Imagine how much skill went into making these disks by hand. The timing would be so freakin difficult as the diameter changes for each note.

Honestly I wish they still made antique designs like this, I mean they do, but they are usually custom made and so expensive as big companies always do the most efficient things because people like to be efficient. But the quarter inserting, the interlocking parts, the turning of the lever, it just gives you.. that feeling of this huge, amazing thing

My dad bought my mom one of these from an old pub in Ireland and had it shipped to the states for their "wood anniversary". It's still one of the coolest things that people always ask to hear. We also have 10 different discs all original, but honestly I love this one Irish tune that ours has and we haven't changed it in years XD

That is so beautiful, it brings tears to my eyes. My family had a similar music box that was an anniversary gift to my grandmother from my grandfather, but it was stolen from us in the late 80s when I was a small child. We've been heartbroken ever since. Thank you for sharing. I can't get enough of that glorious sound.
