I believe that yes, they do have a click track in their earbuds to keep them in time. Kevin (the beatboxer) has perfect pitch so they sometimes ask him for a starting note; after that if anyone is uncertain what their note is they'll listen to Mitch, who ALWAYS stays in tune, and adjust their own pitches accordingly.

Love hearing you speak Italian. Such a beautiful language. Would love for you to react to the following Pentatonix official videos: 1. " The Prayer" (Cover. Originally sung by Celine Dion & Andrea Bocelli) 2. "Pentatonix-The Recording of Evergreen" (A short documentary of them in the studio, recording their "Evergreen" album, which was nominated for a Grammy Award). 3. "Pop Spring 2016" (Another live concert, but filmed by MTV, so it's much better quality in both visual & audio. They perform 3 of their original songs as well as "The Evolution of Michael Jackson". It's just under 15 minutes, but so worth your & your subscriber's time. Gracie. Ciao, bello!

Thank you for this reaction and analysis. I want to say, that the bass and the percussion are made by two different singers, Matt, the base singer, and Kevin the beatboxer (he is more a tenor range singer, and offcourse a chello player). Maybe it would be interesting for you (and us) to watch their The recording of Evergreen, is a video about the arrangeing, rehearsing and recording 14 songs in just two weeks. To watch the creative process and the creativity of this 5 + Ben, their music director, arranger is a plesure.

The band has said that they have a starting note and beats/metronome on their in-ears, in addition to each other’s voices.

I'm not far at all in to the video but they are huge pop-performers so they have proper in-ear monitors where they hear each other but also starting note and a metronome. So that's how they know what key they are in. When they started out they used pitch pipe, phone or piano to get starting key. Plus Kevin (the beatboxer) has perfect pitch so they used him, haha. (Liking the video so far!) Also, you missed them... they were in Italy just this past week I think.

Thanks for such an in-depth reaction to my favourite group. In the section where they do the call and answer with the "devils", they do use a choir ( they were stationed in the stairs on each side of the audience). Their official video does not use any extra backing for that part. Plus they use a bullhorn for the guitar solo as a prop in the video...obviously they don't use it onstage. Mitch Grassi ( main singer) doesn't need it. It's hard to pinpoint the members in a live performance like this, but ~Lead singer: Mitch Grassi, countertenor. His voice is very similar to Freddie Mercury's and he has a 5 octave range ~Tall blond male: Scott Hoying, baritone. Scott also has an incredible vocal range and will take on the bass when the bass needs to sing lead/ verse. ~Only female: Kirstin ( Kirstie) Maldonado, mezzo soprano. Kirstie has a lovely bright voice and a 5 octave range ~ Matt Sallee, bass. Matt has been with the group since 2018, when their original bass, Avi Kaplan, left amicably in 2017. Mat has a lovely warm voice and an impressive falsetto...and a large vocal range as well. ~Kevin Olusola, beatboxer, tenor, cellist. Kevin is the genius of the group. He not only a world class beatboxer, but plays several instruments including sax and cello, both at concert levels...and in fact did play both at Carnegie Hall in his late teens. Kevin also sings tenor and can reach the same high notes as Mitch and Kirstie. He's also a songwriter ( they all are) and has his own channel, K.O. where he loops cello, keyboard, beatboxing and singing. I hope you explore more of this extraordinary group. I'm subscribing in the hopes that you do. Some suggestions: Hallelujah ( there is a live version of this that is probably better for your purposes...or compare both), Daft Punk medley, Run To You ( an original), Sound of Silence, Imagine, The Prayer, Be My Eyes ( an original).

Actually, Mitch has a range of just over 6 octaves. He tends to stick to his higher registers so it's easy to forget how low he can go when he really wants to. In the live performance it's hard to tell who is singing what part when they're all singing, but from the official video we know that in the "Bismillah" section Mitch and Avi were singing the lower side of the argument, which is totally counterintuitive with Mitch, but the alternative would have been Kevin. Kevin does occasionally dip down into a high baritone, but Mitch can go lower than that.

One thing to note: this was _the encore_ ! They had already performed an entire concert. *ETA:* When they were performing in the giant masks this past Spring on The Masked Singer (they were The California Roll) , Scott (the blond baritone) said that it was very difficult because they are used to being able to watch each other and keep in sync on effects like that ritardando toward the end.

I recommend Popspring 2016 concert. Live, great audio and video by MTV with 3 original songs and the Evolution of Michael Jackson. Amazing show with their original basso profundo, Avi Kaplan, who now has a great solo career. He left amicably when the stress of touring began to affect his emotional health.

Their concert videos are a great way to see what they can do live, and I understand that’s what you were interested in reacting to. They also have a number of videos recorded live in-studio, including their cover of Gold and also their medleys of specific singers, such as Michael Jackson, Beyoncé and Ariana Grande. They run through the song a couple of times and then release the one they like best. You may also be interested in Recording Evergreen, a short documentary of PTX recording a recent Christmas album. It shows a bit of everything - arranging, rehearsing, recording vocals and percussion and how the band members interact. I loved your reaction to this performance, and I am subscribing in the hope you will continue to explore Pentatonix. Peace from Ohio …

Mitch Grassi who is the singer at the start (and does the guitar) is a counter tenor. Scott Hoying is the blond baritone, Matt Sallee is the bass, Kevin Olusola is the beat boxer, cellist, and tenor, and Kirstie Maldonado is the Alto.
@margretrosenberg420
@margretrosenberg420 Жыл бұрын
Officially Kirstie is a mezzo soprano, the lowest soprano range, just above alto, because that's where she's most comfortable. In reality she sings anywhere from low alto (though not contralto, which is equivalent to baritone) through coloratura soprano, the highest soprano range. She can sing as high as Mitch.

Great reaction~ Just a suggestion: the original PTX bass has phenominal original solo work that is available for reactions. The deeply beautiful "Avi Kaplan , All Is Well, 7 Layers Sesion # 126" is simply a man, a guitar, a church ~ Avi's first solo after leaving PTX is his powerful "Change On The Rise " ~ then switch to his jamming "When I'm A Fool, Live at Sunset Sound" Avi's uniquely rich voice adds a special element to his rich talent. He is currently working on a new album which I am excited to hear! Hope that you get to check Avi out!

I believe that they do have a metronome in their ears for these shows yeah. Though if you want to see them without it, there have been interviews and KZfaq vids and such where they've given off-the-cuff performances without ears in Here's an old one (they didn't have a mic for Avi, the bass, unfortunately) kzfaq.info/get/bejne/mKlph8yUvJbNmY0.html

Well, your loss. Also, why on earth are you so rude? You're allowed to not like stuff but why put down 5 very talented people just because they dont live up to your own very subjective and arbitary criteria? I think this is a clear case of "if you have nothing nice to say, don't say anything at all".
