They did manage to squeeze in "Around the World", in an oddly appropriate way. While Avi us singing "Television Rules the Nation", in the background Kirstie fits in a couple of "around the world", and during the big breakdown at the end, she works in two more. It's really subtle, but there is a reason that they won a Grammy for the arrangement.

You’d be surprised how long we would listen to you talk analyzing what they do. There was a reactor who knew all about music theory and he would watch the video first and then go back and analyze every part of the song and the singers. His videos would go at least 30-60 minutes. He was very popular within the fandom. The only reason we don’t watch anymore is because he stopped doing it. Haha

Watching your "reaction" to "Daft Punk" gave me an even greater (didn't know it was possible) appreciation of them. Your analysis was educational without being pedantic. It's really fantastic work, especially for that kind of budget. One of my favorite stories as a kid was Linkin Park's first album. They went, like, double platinum in the first year, and the whole album was produced on a $900 iMac in Mike Shinoda's basement. You just can't stop real genius :)

I am also checking out your other content. I really enjoy your reactions! And THANK YOU so much for explaining how DJ's can effortlessly sync one song into another without missing a beat! Apparently literally! I was in college way back in the mid-to-late '70's and the college kids who were spinning the records (literally) at dorm room parties could do that so well! I have always wondered how they managed to do that! (And the point is that Kirstin didn't sneeze and her glitter survived intact!)

If you haven't ever watched their Sing Off live performances, I strongly recommend it. Listening to them in a live, rather unpolished format provides a great insight into their techno strengths. While I personally prefer the powerful vocal ranges that they show off in covers like Hallelujah, their ability to use their vocals for synth effects is just mind-blowing. Also, ditto to Marsha Grant's comment from a couple months ago. You really should list these as "analysis" rather than "reaction." I legit just spent over an hour watching your Pentatonix vids and explanations. Great work!

Not sure how much influence Mitch had with the arranging of this but he was a huge daft punk fan at the time he was also doing some dj’ing. So when you were talking about mixing the songs depending on their beats he might have known some of what you were talking about. In fact he’s currently working on a solo project and recently during quarantine did a full dj set over zoom. He goes by messer for that project.

I just found you but this awesome. So many reactors are obsessed with the harmonies and the trio (rightfully so) but they usually gloss over the level of mastery that Avi and Kevin bring to the foundations of the song with the beat. I was already a fan, but my appreciation grows with every reaction you do to them! this new info really speaks to why they won a Grammy for this! They JUST released Trailer #1 for a video of their ORIGINAL "Happy".. or is it "Happy Now"? They performed it in concert during their world tour that was cut short by the virus and we were so hoping that they would release it! They've been working on an original album and we assumed it was on pause for now. But I can't believe that they just released a trailer for Happy Now! No, this was not the video they shot on Mitch's iPad (that was "Moves Like Jagger") but it was produced on a shoestring budget ($400, including $50 for makeup and wardrobe--apparently they couldn't afford a shirt for Avi🤣), and the video was shot in Avi and Kevin's kitchen, and the audio was recorded in a spare bedroom closet. Dude you just don't shut up!.. and I'm SOOOOO glad you didn't. I have never seen such a detailed analysis in a reaction video like this before. Speaking as a fellow musician, the way you broke what could be very complex elements of music into the most simple bit was impressive to say the LEAST. Your love for music coupled with your enthusiastic style and charisma was intoxicating. Didn't even feel like I watched a 25 min video. MASTERFUL JOB SIR. WELL DONE. DEFINITELY SUBSCRIBING!

I'm not sure if it's the earliest use of Autotune, but "Believe" by Cher certainly predates "Harder, Better, Faster, Stronger" (although not "Around the World"), as "Believe" came out in 1998.
@DJSwitchPDX
@DJSwitchPDX 3 жыл бұрын
True, but I think she used a Vocoder, which predates "auto-tuning" as we know it. Daft Punk might have as well, but I don't do a lot of homework for these just to try and keep them as organic (and easy to produce) as possible.
@UserHorologium
@UserHorologium 3 жыл бұрын
@@DJSwitchPDX She used Auto-Tune. He's an interesting article from _The_ _New_ _Yorker_ in 2008 about the history of auto-tune in pop music, and it expressly states that "Believe" was the first big hit to use it in such a frank manner (previously, it had been pretty much a closely-held secret for audio engineers and producers, who didn't want the general public to be aware of its existence. For Cher's performance, though, it was intended to be heard, because that metallic edge is unlike anything else, including a vocoder (although Cher's producers claimed they used a vocoder for quite some time).

Hi there. Just subscribed. I really enjoy when a reactor goes beyond "Wow" and "Amazing" and "Speechless" (which you clearly are not. All T no shade.) I've enjoyed a couple who have enlightened me on the technical issues of singing (head voice, chest, mix, breath control etc.) but this is a fascinating insight into the technical issues around getting that expertise across to us.
