Pentatonix sort of ruined most other christmas music for me, lol. Everything they do is magic. I can count on one hand the numbers they do where I don't think it is the best version of that number I have ever heard 😉

I think you will be saying, "absolute best version of that song" a LOT as you get into the Christmas journey. What they have, and use, more than most other, is dynamics. They blast you with a wall of harmony, then drop you off the cliff and pull back to Kevin's angelic voice. Angels We Have Heard On High O Come All Ye Faithful And of course, The Prayer, just released. Really, you can't go wrong.

Yes!!! This IS the best rendition of "Mary, Did You Know" that I have EVER heard! It has been a favorite Christmas song of mine for a number of years and I have heard many fine renditions, but Pentatonix' version just touches my soul. So glad you FINALLY got around to it! ( Seriously, Pentatonix has SO MANY great songs to react to, I understand it's going to take some time to get to all of them. I truly enjoy your reaction videos and I look forward to seeing more!

I couldn’t agree more about scott and avi’s voices together being a treat. I think that pairing is a bit more prominent in their christmas music because many of the songs are more traditional choral arrangements etc. i really like their carol of the bells and drummer boy. Both feel like scott and avi pair up more in those two songs. Because one of them is usually taking the bass line, i think the pairing is a bit more rare than other pairings. And it’s gorgeous.

Now you need to listen to Voctave's "Mary did You know?" which features Mark Lowry one of the writers of the song. It is worth the watch, pure accapella with no beat box, but still amazing.

When Kevin pops in, his voice feels like innocence. He's beyond talented in every aspect of life it seems and he's humble and genuine and stands up for his beliefs. I love their videos that are very simple and use nature as their background. Those seem to be the one's that punch me in the gut with so many feelings!

I had to laugh a bit at your comment about listening to Pentatonix Christmas music year round. Yes, a lot of Pentaholics have come to realize that any day can be a Pentatonix day, regardless of the type of song they're singing. Their vocals, harmonies and arrangements are so entertaining that folks are appreciating their renditions of Christmas songs throughout the year.

Love that you're finally getting to hear this! The only other version of this song that comes close to being as good as this is Voctave's version with the man who actually wrote this song, Mark Lowry, taking the lead. I think it's definitely worth a listen.

This was the first version I had ever heard but I later learned that Mark Lowry (who wrote the lyrics) did a version with Voctave. I recommend (if you so choose) you listen to that version as well. Both are utterly amazing in their own rights.

Travis, thank you so very much! One, for your heartfelt review, and two, for playing the song I requested earlier in the week, after my surgery. I agree that the pairing of Scott’s voice with Avi’s is absolutely sublime. I think at Christmas is when I start missing Avi being in Pentatonix. Matt is very good, but Avi will always hold a special place in my heart. You are right, this is the BEST version I’ve ever heard of this song. I’ve found with many of the covers they do that when I listen to the original versions, they pale in comparison. I love being a Pentaholic!

You are in for a real treat when you go see them live! Their Christmas tour is absolutely AMAZING! They will do this one for sure. I saw their Christmas tour in Connecticut the year before the COVID pandemic started and it was, by far, the best concert I’ve ever been to! There are not enough wonderful adjectives to describe how they make you FEEL when they sing. This one and Hallelujah are the most beautiful songs to hear live. So glad you got to this one. To my mind it is still one of the most flat out gorgeous songs they have ever done, even to this day. As for other Christmas music, one of my favorites is Oh Come All Ye Faithful; they do it like you've never heard before, and it's guaranteed to put a smile on your face.

The author of this song, Mark Lowry, actually did this song with Voctave a while back. You might want to check that out.. very good of course. I still like PTX version better but the actual writer with Voctave…gotta see it..

The first time I heard this song was by a singer, Jubilant Sykes. l love Jubilant Sykes and his version of this song so much that I listened to a number of versions. I had never heard of Pentatonix but when I heard them sing this song, I have never listened to another rendition of this song. Pentatonix owns this song for me.

This song was written by Mark Lowry (and the music later by Buddy Greene) and it is absolutely stunning to hear the man who wrote it singing it the way he felt it as he wrote it. He sang it with Voctave; that is a very emotional slower version, but the Pentatonix arrangement is still my favorite. Your reactions to Pentatonix are so much how I felt the first time I heard this and how I still feel 6 years later! Thank you for being here!

I have nEver heard a better interpretation of this song!!! It reminds me that a young girl who was a Virgin gave birth to a baby that was the creator of all that is, and would bring love to all of us. I am a big fan of yours, thanks for bringing me along on your discovery and love of PTX.

Like everyone else, I think this rendition is in a class by itself. What I am about to say is not to challenge that, but to respond to you requ6 and offer a suggestion of a version you may not be aware. That is Voctave's version with with Matt Lowry, the song's composer. Both are amazing!

In my opinion, PTX's "12 Days of Christmas" is their most shocking cover out of their last year's Christmas Album, but I doubt it would be part of this year's Christmas Tour, since it is very difficult to perform live... but who knows...
