This is a very rare, and I think is the first, instance of Adam Rupp doing percussion on a reverent song. Usually, they keep the singing pure. But, in this case, the percussion is expertly applied. I tend to want to think that it is a homage to "The Little Drummer Boy". Their music and videos are always filled with minute details that makes the audience to appreciate the entirety of the composition even more.

I was somewhat of a PTX fan but my husband has loved them for years. I only got into home free about a year and a half ago and for me, home free takes the cake.

if you haven't heard "Do you hear what I hear" by HF, arranged by Adam Rupp (beat boxer)....you are missing out...it is a bass/percussion feast and will really put you in the Christmas mood!

Tim, the bass, is my favorite singer, also! He has a 5 octave range. You need to hear him sing high tenor in "SNOW GLOBE". He also co-wrote it. He has written many of their originals! "MARY, DID YOU KNOW" IS MY FAVORITE CHRISTMAS SONG. This arrangement was a masterpiece! MARVELOUS! GOD SENT! Thank you for your glowing reaction and MERRY CHRISTMAS TO YOU AND YOUR FAMILY!

"ArnieAdam's" comment explains perfectly my reasons for loving Home Free's version of this (& every other song) more than PTX. There's no better arrangement or talent than this version. It's perfectly balanced! They don't try to out-sing each other & even when they're all singing together, you can hear & recognize each voice separately! That also goes for every song they sing! Love this, it’s stunning. Loved the beatboxer and Chance’s low notes. Did you hear his growl at the end of “I am”? Chance was doing the bass while Tim was singing. This is so beautiful. Love the arrangement and the serenity of the scene. Good reaction LFR. Have a wonderful Christmas.

Kudos to Mark Lowry for writing such an exception piece of music. The big 3 versions Home Free, Pentatonix and Voactive are all great, but so completely different there's no "best one". Home Free's version is pure and simple with an R&B vibe and "bassy" sound. Pentatonix is more of an embellished production and gorgeous. Voctave featuring Mark Lowry who wrote the song, has a more Cathedral Choir sound and stunning. I love them all! For just pure Christmas playlist listening, Home Free is my choice.

I am a Home Fry all the way...and to me..no one will ever outsing them! They don't need theatrics or add bells and whistles...all we need is their beautiful voices! They are pure perfection! I just subbed for more Home Free!

I agree. The guys have some fun and funny videos. Also some solemn, serious ones. And ones that grab your heart with their unapologetic approach to patriotism and to putting out messages that deal with sensitive social issues. I'm one of the crossover fans of Home Free, Voice Play and Pentatonix, but I find myself heavily in the Home Free camp because they can use the simplest of videos and I'm still enthralled by their vocals alone to make the circuit of reactors every time they release new music. No smoke and mirrors needed. Again, I'm not taking away from the talent of other groups, Home Free is the most well rounded group in my opinion. Merry Christmas to you all! ❤🎄🎅

I’ll start by saying your speaking voice is beautiful (I believe that you used to sing!) and so is your smile! You enjoyed this so much that I did as well! In this season (or anytime really - it’s on my playlist) I recommend Carrie Underwood’s “How Great Thou Art” with Vince Gill on guitar. Major goosebumps- you’ll love it!

Great reaction! This version was so rich and balanced with the bass from Chance and the upbeat percussion from Adam, and the "Three Wise Men" leading. It is unlike any other arrangement before it, including PTX. Voctave performs this with the original writer and singer, Mark Lowry, and it is excellent, but I prefer this arrangement over the original. Just subbed.

Just saw Home Free in concert last night. It was great! Fantastic music and great interaction with the audience! I will be going again any time they are in the area! You should check out their Snowglobe video (if you haven't already) to hear the unbelievable range of the bass, Tim Foust.

Thank you for doing this one it´s not fair/possible to compare the 3 biggest acappella groups HF , PTX and VP they are all amazing but they sing very different genres that being said i´m a die hard Home Fry after christmas please react to their new years song -- Auld Lang Syne you will hear the harmonies that our guys are known and unmatched for , merry christmas much love from your danish fry/ fan

Hey Van. The guy on the far left (white shirt) is Adam Chance. He goes by Chance so as not to confuse things since the beatboxer's first name is Adam also. Well Chance was the bass for his last group and while he is the baritone for this group when Tim (bass singing lead here) is singing lead Chase takes over the bass part for the group. These guys are all so versatile. Hey if you want to hear something fun, back in 1966 a band called Sam the Sham and the Pharaohs did a song called Little Red Riding Hood. Well Tim Foust (bass singer did a video from his birthday celebration (a few actually) and one of them is he and a friend and Tim's wife doing that song. It is cool as all get out. Just YT search his name and the song name together. Also if you haven't yet, check out one of the vids on YT of this beatboxer doing about a 9 min. solo called Adam Rupp drum solo. The guys all leave him on stage alone at their live shows and he does his thing. Unbelievable!! Enjoy.. Merry Christmas to you man and all your family. Have a safe and healthy New Year.

Yep, Tim has a 5+ octaves...and Austin (high tenor) has three octave range...you should check out When a Man Loves a Woman where Austin has the lead. Percy sledge would definitely approve. I guess you got your answer to your opening question as to who does it better, huh. Loved your reaction and I subbed and will be looking forward to Home Free reactions.

I prefer Home Free for many reasons and I feel they are more genuine when it comes to non-secular music. I also appreciate their down to earth their humble personas. Love Tim Foust/ I truly feel he is the best bass and Austin's voice is angelic.

I’m sure the other a cappella group people told you about is Voiceplay. I love all three of these groups, they each bring something different to the table. Geoff Castellucci is the bass singer for Voiceplay but does a lot of his own stuff too. He just dropped his video for God Rest Ye Merry Gentlemen and he clones himself to sing all the parts. He has at least a five octave range, you should check it out. Love your enthusiasm!

New sub here.. great reaction and welcome to the Home Free family.. You'll love it.. They are so versatile. Tim Foust has a five octave range. Chance (covering bass lines on this), has 4 octave range.. and Austin (high tenor) and Rob (lead tenor) are just phenomenal. Being able to really have 2 basses, 3 tenors (if you include Tim sometimes), and then Adam Rupp who literally ate a drum kit.. it just makes them able to do anything.

It's different, depending on the reactor, what you'd like to see them react to. With your knowledge and understanding, I'd love to see you react to "Auld Lang Syne" by them. Nothing against others that prefer Home Free, they are a nice acapella group but their tones don't please me as much as Pentatonix does. I guess everyone has a personal preference in music of course, I'm not here to debate who is better, they are each different. I am a Pentaholic and I am still trying very very hard to enjoy Home Free, I just haven't got to that point yet. I enjoy your reactions and the way you critique different music and groups, different view points are always interesting.

I wasn't going to compare the 2 but since you brought it up.... Home Free are all really good singers but they don't sound great. They sound like all five of them were the greatest singers of their family. You know how every family has that one person who sings the best. They sound like those five guys were them and got together to sing. They are really good but nothing that blows my socks off. Pentatonix on the other hand blows people away everytime they open their mouth. In short, there are Acapella groups and then there is Pentatonix. It's really not that close.
