Singer, Jeffrey Hack Music, makes a fun video reaction to Pentatonix Bohemian Rhapsody music video. Together, PTX recreates an innovative Queen's hit song! All Pentatonix members produce beautiful sounding vocals with their blending, dynamics, and chemistry as an a cappella group. Their use of flashlights in their Bohemian Rhapsody music video brought an extraordinary vibe that I was NOT expecting. I'm sure Queen members Brian May, Freddie Mercury, Roger Taylor, John Deacon, Mike Gross, Barry Mitchell, and Doug Bogie would be very proud of this a cappella version.
Overall, the music video is fun, creative, and innovative in the sense of taking something high valued in rock culture, and making it more thrilling through a cappella.
PTX Vocal Parts:
Scott Hoying: Baritone
Mitch Grassi: Tenor (HIGH TENOR)
Kirsten Maldonado: Mezzo-soprano
Avi Kaplan: Bass
Kevin Olusola: Vocal Percussion

Mitch was, as always, great. So was Kirsten, Avi and Scott. But personally, I think Kevin does not get nearly enough praise for his part in this song. Without his fantastic skill doing all the percussion, this song would still be good, but perhaps not as great as it is. Kevin is indeed a human 808.

I very much agree with Lorne! And having practiced vocal percussion myself in an a cappella group, it's not easy and takes time to learn the skill. You're pretty much working your oral muscles.

They perform this live in concerts. The couch is homage to their early days of Music videos where they just sit on one and record. Btw, Queen never performed this live in entirety. The dubbing that they put in the studio recording could not be replicated onstage. Queen had to shift to the prerecorded music video during the Scaramouch part. Great reaction thanks

Brian May is actually Dr. Brian May. He is an astrophysicist. The scene in whiche they're looking up at the night sky is homage to Brian May. There are 4 shooting stars and I always wondered about that because there are 5 members in PTX. I read in a comment that it's an homage to Queen because there are 4 members in Queen. At least that's how I interpret the shooting starts. The moving couch pays homage to how they first started.

That look on your face on the opening note says it all. This is one of the most mind-blowing videos of all time in the best ways possible!! That was Mitch on that high note. The couch was a reference to their earliest videos, most of which just featured the five of them sitting on a couch performing songs live. The moving couch (it was remote-controlled and not being pushed from behind) represents how far they've come since those early days. There's a VERY entertaining behind-the-scenes video on the making of this one. That moving couch was a trip! Kirstie almost fell off the back of it, and it actually ran Kevin over at one point! Scott said they needed helmets to be on it! The entire video was shot in one long (and very cold) night, outdoors, on a closed road on the outskirts of a small town somewhere.

I would love to see/hear them do more rock or pop-punk. Can you imagine them covering something like Boulevard Of Broken Dreams, I Miss You, Where Are You, Sugar We're Going Down, literally anything by Avril Lavigne lol (can you imagine Complicated, or Skater boi lol )or even something MCR like Famous Last Words or I Don't Love You. And I think they could do an amazing job with Linkin Park's In The End, if they were so inclined. Sadly, none of these things are likely to happen, but I can dream lol. Scott sang "Don't Wanna Miss A Thing" live with Vincint, which was great, and his Lost On You duet with Mario Jose is one of my favourite songs ever.

Their is significance to the "couch". It was a main prop in their earlier days when 3 members would sit on the upper back of the couch and Avi and Kevin would sit on the cushions and they would perform. I love the older performances as they are much more intimate in my opinion. They sing with such passion and yet are grounded in the clear intent of each performance. Avi's lows . I think the guy went through puberty like 3 or 4 times over. Hehehe BTW the beard is starting to grow on me. ;) As long as you don't cover those dimples, we are in good terms.. (it's beyond my comprehension what young guys want to look older. Just saying...) The lower camera angle is starting to work for me as long as you keep editing in the close ups, it looks cool. Just saying. Love your reactions!.
