Loved your reaction. No official lead singer. They are all unbelievably talented. They usually all get a chance to shine. One of the reasons I love them so. They've 3 Grammy wins in their earlier career. Very diverse group but they are the most humble and hardworking band out there. The first Grammy win was Daft Punk. It was filmed in Avi(the basso profundo with beard and wearing the beanie/pronounced Ah-vee) Kaplan's and Kevin Olusola's apartment. Kevin is the beat boxer extraordinaire. He is a tenor and does sing from time to time. The other three (a.k.a the trio) grew up together in Texas. The counter tenor in the hat is Mitch Grassi. He is amazing and if you decide to go down the PTX rabbit hole, and I hope you will, you will quickly learn that you often get Mitch slapped, as was the case here. The second Grammy win was Dance of the Sugar Plum Fairy (no words...no problem said PTX) and the third Grammy win was a collaboration with Dolly Pardon of Jolene. They've tons of covers and originals. They usually use no instruments aside from their bodies and their voices. Most talented people and their voices are out of this world.

U are going down the rabbit hole of Pentatonix. Please do more and u will not be disappointed with any of them. I love your reactions.

Pentatonix are named after the Pentatonic Scale, which is a music scale with five notes. Early in their careers, the members agreed that they could all do side projects so long as they kept the group first. After ten years, only Avi Kaplan (the bass in the beanie) has left the group - he's solo in the folk/renegade genre. Pentatonix's current bass is Matt Sallee, and with him Kevin is no longer "the only brother in the group" 😉 Anyway, I was saying, Mitch Grassi in the hat isn't leaving to go solo... he and Scott Hoying (blond) had a side-project called Superfruit from very early on and Mitch also put out a solo EP just this year as well as doing solo covers now and then. Kirstin Maldonado put out a solo pop EP a few years ago, and Kevin Olusola (the beatboxer) has at least one EP... he does looping, covers and classical with his beatboxing, vocals and multiple instruments he plays. Scott Hoying doesn't seem as interested in solo work, though aside from his duo with Mitch, he does duets with quite a few of his musical friends and co-founded an a capella kid's group and women's group. Dude just likes to raise other people up. I've heard the newest member, Matt, is working on a gospel album with his church.

Just for a little fun info about things you guys talked about: The guy with the beanie, Avi, is the bass and sometimes when the bass is singing in a normal range, the blond dude Scott covers as a fill in bass. You can hear it while Avi is singing. Also, the beatboxer Kevin will sing sometimes and the percussion is covered by the guy in the big hat, Mitch. Last but not least, Kevin is no longer the only black guy in the group. Avi, the bass singer, suddenly left the band in 2017 for personal reasons and was replaced by another incredible bass singer named Matt Salee who happens to be a beautiful black man.

It simply doesn't get any more angelic than this! Hallelujah!

I had the pleasure of seeing them Christmas week this year in Sugarland, TX. Just amazing. Pick any song and you won’t be disappointed. I love their new cover of “The Prayer” and a song that Scott wrote called, “Thank You”! Their original, “Sing” will make you want to dance and I dare you not to smile. “Bohemian Rhapsody” always blows me away, although by now I’ve seen it 100s of times. All of us Pentaholics could write books on their covers and originals. Too many to name. Be sure not to overlook the three songs that earned them Grammy’s. Have a happy trip down a deep, glorious rabbit hole!

If you continue to follow Pentatonix (PTX), Welcome to the Rabbit Hole. It's an Amazing ride. They have almost 11yrs of albums. There's a video Begginers Guide To Pentatonix you should watch. Unofficially Scott the tall blonde guy is the leader but he'll never call himself the leader. They are a very tight knit group. They know each other's strengths, who would be better singing this song or that part in the song. How they should sing it. When they have it worked out they give it to their arranger Ben Bram who tweeks it makes suggestions on it and then it's ready to go. There is a video that just dropped this past week on the arrangement of there Christmas Album, Evergreen. It shows how they went about making the album.

I've never seen a group "Mitch slap" before. Mitch is the guy with the hat, and the first time you experience them you get a literally slap from his voice. They don't have a lead really. They all work together. The beat boxer (Kevin) is a musical genius and not the only brother in the group anymore. Avi, the guy with the beard, stepped out a few years ago and Matt stepped in. He's awesome too. The tall guy is Scott and the beautiful lady is Kirstie. Welcome to PTX!!

Kevin is the vocal percussionist, which is why he’s doing all the percussion. He also has a beautiful tenor voice, but he mostly does all the percussion and sound affects.

I am a Pentaholic and love all their songs but you need to react to Daft Punk, Bohemian Rhapsody, The Prayer, Sound of Silence just to name a few but there are so many. Kevin, the beatboxer is amazing too. He plays the cello and beatboxes at the same time, he can sing also. He is super talented. The whole group is amazingly talented.
