On September 6, 2006, he broke the record again at -109 meters (357.6 ft) in Nice (this record was subsequently broken by Herbert Nitsch at -112 meters (367.4 ft) in November 2007).

Robert William 'Robbie' Maddison (born 14 July 1981) is an Australian motorbike stunt rider. Nicknamed 'Maddo', he is from the town of Kiama, New South Wales.
In May 2005, the Crusty Demons gave Robbie the opportunity to break two world records on his motorbike. 125cc distance Guinness world record- 221feet 250cc distance world record with a trick- 246 feet (75 m) superman seat grab.
After this he went on to win numerous international FMX events around the world and has been recognized as one of the best FMX riders of all time. Maddo's motto: "Face your fears - live your dreams"
On 31 December 2007, (on the 40th anniversary of Evel Knievel jumping the fountains at Caesars Palace), live on ESPN, Maddison broke the world motorcycle jumping record travelling 98.34m on a motorbike. He repeated the event immediately afterward, successfully landing the jump, as his fiancee Amy looked on. His second attempt, however, did not go as far as the first jump; he was not injured in either jump.
On 1 January 2009, live on ESPN in front of a world audience, Maddison successfully jumped 96 feet (29 m) up onto the Arc de Triomphe in front of Paris Las Vegas and then descended a 80-foot (24 m) drop off the monument to return safely to ground level. Robbie said after the jump that he may have broken his hand and had a gash to the bone in the webbing of his left hand.
On 13 July 2009, Maddison jumped Tower Bridge in London, with a backflip, whilst the drawbridge was open by 25 feet.
In March 2010, Robbie Maddison become the first person to jump the start gantry at the Formula One in Melbourne, Australia.
Robbie went to Istanbul early in 2012 to be the motorbike stunt double for James Bond actor Daniel Craig in the new Bond movie Skyfall.[Robbie went on to receive a SAG award for best stunt ensemble for Skyfall. In 2013 he went on to win the Taurus world stunt award for "best stunt with a vehicle."
In April 2015 Maddison achieved the feat of riding a modified dirt motorbike on a wave near Teahupoo in Tahiti, after two years of preparation for the event.
In 2016, Robbie developed a special edition snowbike in cooperation with YETI SnowMX, the 2017 ROBBIE MADDISON YETI SNOWMX LIMITED EDITION.

Seeing the woman with the Great White really made me realize just how much I've let my life slip away from me. I'm 26, still a young chick, and I remember when all I used to do was study sharks and how I swore I would free dive with a great white. I had everything set and my goals in my horizon and it all just went downhill. I even recognize the sharks in those clips by number and name. Seeing her brought me to tears and it served me as an inspirational slap in the face. The music along with all of these clips is just flawless. "You leave me here" as the shark clip played, something most people don't understand how demonized yet magnificent these animals are but that song made some of that come to light. Bravo man, great job!

The French diver that dove into the abyss... no words man. It must be a feeling of freedom to just let go and fall into the abyss. The power to not panic is amazing. Just before he dove that was deep enough for me lol. Great video.

Beautifully constructed video with amazing crystal clear scenery. Love the way each clip just seems to blend in with the last especially the way you switched from the last rock jump clip to the great white shot...that was awesome! Oh and the music, you couldn't have chosen two more fitting songs! Downplay for the high paced adrenaline clips and Lightscape for the majestical underwater shots! Best People are Awesome/Amazing video on the net by far!!!

Thanks mate, thanks for the amazing comment it's truly inspirational to receive a comment like this, I try and create something that has never been done this way before to give people a seamless understanding of what People are Amazing is all about, but the cliff shots of not seeing the cliff diver under water until the end where the great whites are is one of my favorite idea's of putting a awesome compilation together like this, as for the music takes weeks to find something that will fit to the clips. Thank you so much for the awesome comment again :)))

Fear is just a state of mind, sure. One that is frequently caused by the presence or awareness of a genuine threat. Your fear may pass. The shark may not.
@brrr8904

whynottalklikeapirat they were in no danger with that shark whatsoever. These people aren't reckless, they understand shark behavior and knew there was no threat. Sharks are a lot less dangerous than you think.
@whynottalklikeapirat
@whynottalklikeapirat 7 жыл бұрын
brrr I was commenting on the headline, not the video. The word shark is interchangeable with anything you like. My critique concerns the attitude that we should treat the world as a mental state simply because fear is a mental state. As for your proffered shark wisdom ... - I don't know what made you feel like you can gauge my subjective evaluation of sharks. I am in fact a dive instructor and spear hunter and as such I have probably spent more time around sharks than the average person. I completely agree that sharks overall are no significant threat to humans. But I have to say that anyone who thinks that there is "no danger whatsoever" and "no threat" when you are spending time with any wild animal bigger than you is simply uninformed and likely to get in trouble should the opportunity arise. This is no particular reflection on sharks. You could get in trouble with a cow or a giant grouper if you don't think outside your "fearless attitude". Reckless is when you don't understand the potential of the situation regardless of whether it is safe or not at the moment. I daresay most animal handlers will tell you the same thing. And then you have the crackpots who think nature is Disney World and winds up geting munched like Grizzly Man and so many others regardless of the depth of knowledge and experience. At the end of the day it's about being awake and having respect.
@AbsolutelyFlawlessAustralia
@AbsolutelyFlawlessAustralia 7 жыл бұрын
So true mate , in the presence of most dangerous sharks in the world one of the most unpredictable sharks out there besides the infamous Bull sharks in South Africa's fishing coast line, is the the great white shark if they sense no fear in one person in or out of the water your safe for a very short period of time but being unpredictable as they are that can go very wrong very fast, some people forget when you enter the water you are actually swimming in thier realm, they are beautifull creatures to watch, but i would never get in the water with one, the divers that swim freely with them are true believers of fear really is a state of mind.
@whynottalklikeapirat
@whynottalklikeapirat 7 жыл бұрын
And it's true. Fear is a state of mind. It's just that the external world is not and does not always bend to ones mental experiments. I am sure mastering fear offers another view of the world, which may be useful in it's own right, and I am sure it aids action in situations where one might otherwise freeze up. I am sure that discovering that many fears are merely shadows can lead to the idea that the world is somehow a function of your mental state, which is of course a pleasing notion - one that has been peddled for money by the likes of Scientology, "the law of attraction" crowd and many other woo merchants over the centuries. Does your attitude matter in life? Of course it does. Does it matter with animals? Quite often, and to some extent, sure. Does it mean you are the master of all you survey? No - if you believe that you have started to believe your own press a tad too much - and possibly even turned it into a philosophy. Maybe even one you can make money from to the sound of eager clapping. Maybe one that genuinely helps you achieve things and master YOU. It's a fine thing to transcend oneself. And cultivating a certain state of mind will most likely help that happen. Artists and top athletes tell us so. Flow theory suggests it too. And all the mad dreamers who survived on a combination of fundamentalist fancy and sheer bullheadedness and who were quite happy to take personal credit for luck and serendipity at various turns because of either their ego or the feeling of deserving something for the overall effort invested (and often the lives sacrificed at the altar of discovery). It is the pattern-seeking animal blindness of counting the + and not the - until you have a nice big bag of them and start preaching the train of thought that lead you there. Maybe it is something we need to be able to do to risk it all when we have to. Like the fishermen of old venturing out into hostile winter seas. If you start thinking it can't be done, fear might get the better of you. But the truth is that sometimes it just can't be done. The truth is that a bullshark may be triggered into testing the nature of your calf simply because the light hit it at the wrong angle at the wrong moment. Many have discovered that after a long good run. Some have lived to tell the tale. Others ... not so much. And that last crowd don't get to further philosophize about the boons of courage.

Those statistics are based on average folks going to a beach surfing or messing around in the water. Once you chum the water or go into their habitat the stats go out the window.

giff74 depends what you do still... also depends greatly at where you are... statistics are still very low.. fear of sharks in addition to demand for fins have almost caused their doom. but i agree with you that the hyp to swim with g whites, is an exaggeration

The free dive into the hole was an ad stunt. The people that made the video revealed that wasn't possible to free dive to the bottom and recover. I saw it on an episode of Outrageous Acts ... I think. Just clever film editing.
