i actually have this setting turned off by default and turned it on myself because i love using the gunner sight

I played the game for 3 years before I found the “uninstall” button. Really helped me improve 👍

I have played this game for 5 years and never knew about this. First game after changing I got 15 kills before I died.

My problem is that I can't notice an enemy quickly and my aim is slow :(

I like seeing the gun barrel. It adds to the game.

playing since 2014, and it wasnt till 2020 that I found the setting. I really like the gunner sight, but it can be a problem when the barrel blocks some of the view.

The biggest disadvantage is the crew training. Absolutely massive advantage that cannot be overcome.

I use both the driver(yes there's an option for this within settings) and gunner sights when playing it adds realism and I love it

Benn playing since 2015 and I myself use the gunner's sight, and mainly just adjust for parallax myself. Never actually knew about that setting so thank you. That'll make putting bushes on my turret less "blinding"

I love my gunner sight, especially my t-34/76 ones, plus it actually feels immersive

Playing since 2013 and I still didn’t know until a week ago - it’a a default setting - it’s really annoying when your tank gunner sight is not zeroed to the gun 7 br above tanks Germany - it’s best to set it off - good video mate 👍 also camo won’t effect your sight I always wondered how other tanks got me with all that camo over gun sight ??!

I actually turned this setting on for myself because I like the challenge that it brings. Sure it’s gotten me killed in situations where the barrel sight wouldn’t, but it adds to my immersion.

But the IMMERSION!!!

I've played off and on for many years when I first started the sight was at the end of the barrel. After a year or so break I came back and figured it was changed for everyone. I've gotten so used to it I might leave it not sure now lol

Barrel: takes up half an inch of the screen. Him: it’s a MASSIVE disadvantage

Also don’t forget another huge disadvantage is “grass in gunner sight”. You can chose to disable it so when you are hiding and decide to peak your view won’t be blocked.

When I was new to the game the most game changing thing I found almost 3 months later was that you could into the games coding and setup engine controls for planes with 2 or more engines like you could set 1 engine to 100% and have the other one turned off

I personally have this on because I am all about the immersion, not about winning.

Bro I'm 2.5k in got almost all nations to 6.0 tanks and I haven't changed this and still average 6 kills a match but thanks I never knew what it improved

i'm not new but it does look kinda fun seeing the tank barel when useing a scope, i might try it when i'm not playing serious aka (%90 of the time)

Best things I found from settings are "not joining active battles" and "set target for squadron" Even when I'm not playing with friends, I constantly use set target to see if corner has faulty hitbox or if I want to use artillery more accurately

I purposely have this setting on because I love hardcore

When i first played warthunder I didnt even know how to use binoculars nor how ranging works 😂. Just kept on estimating based on the missed shots

This setting was on by default when i first joined, back in 2015. Never had an issue with it, until i played the casemate TDs. I still use it from time to time at lower BRs. but learning to use it helps immensely with 1970s+ tanks, as they have commander sights and fire controls

Now i actually want to use gunner sight to feel the pain even more

the biggest game changer for me was when i learned that autorepair could be turned off, i went from literally going into losses every day to making some decent money. i think i turned it on when i just started playing, then deleted wt a then after some time got into it again

Leaving it on is makes it feel more real

I actually had that off by default, but turned it on because its much more immersive for RB and also because then I dont have to readjust for when playing SB and back to RB

i already tried disabling this setting, but the muzzle flash disturbing me, so i turned that on again 😆

Nice use of the realistic German sights, found it much easily to see what im aiming at when not obscured by range marks. The triangle shape is so good

I sometimes use it just to not destroy everyone when playing low tier stuff .

There is an advantage by using the sight as its intended, With this sight it gives the player better angle of attack and acquisition of target, it also gives a more authentic feel rather the default sight, I personally play with the setting on and I recommend you learn as learning the paralax you will hit targets a lot better and when you want to go to simulator mode you are trained

This is going to make the leopard 1 to a1a5 grind soooooo much easier since you need perfect accuracy for long range sniping and the leopards use the upper commander cupola area sight to aim making long range sniping a trial and error too much left or right or over or under shot hell bearable. (Using the improved rangefinder with not barrel sights makes the gun behave unpredictably)

I have turned on mine cause I just want to, adds more immersion to me and I'm completely used to it capable of landing close up small target shots and also distant ones without even using the ranger finder. Of course this depends with what tank i'm using.

Me who never disabled it and gained a multi-kill: I have no weaknesses.

I like to keep it on for realism despite all its drawbacks

In air battles I turned the free look activation from the c key to alt, so it frees up my other fingers for maneuvering with the thumb doing the free look

My game started with the cannon aim, but i decided to play with extra balls and placed the aim cam placed on the real optics, i got soo used to it that i developed an auto calculation between aim difference and target distance, hit any and every target no matter what right where i want it, if u want to get better, play harder, learn faster

M4 Sherman was a fucking pain in the ass back when I was new. Been playing since 2017 and I never knew this was a thing

This can be very helpful for shooting around corners. I was wondering why I wasn't hitting anything, only to realize that the building was in the way, and the gunner was sitting to the left of the cannon barrel.

Believe it or not it's quite the advantage to view through gunners sight on more modern and cold war tanks where the optics are above the gun. You can safely hide almost the entire tank behind a hill and engage really really long distance enemies from total cover

I honestly feel like the gunner site should be a requirement. Would be kind of cool I think

I have had warthunder for 6 years, played it most in the last 3 years. And I didn't know about this.

I turn this on when playing some vehicles. Like the Bradley, since the gunner sight is on top of the tank by the TOW launcher. So you can fire and guide your missiles while most of your vehicle is hidden.

I turn it on at times because some strong tanks have their optics above the whole tank making peeking over a hill or slope to snipe easier like the Challenger 2 early models

I had it off but I turned it on. I was a battlefield and COD player so seeing the barrel of the cannon was something I was used to.

Another big one is the rangefinder and range sight adjustment buttons. I play on xbox so my binding for the rangefinder is right stick than I adjust the gun sight distance with lb+dpad up or lb+dpad down and it also will tell u the distance it's set to in the top left corner of ur sight and the other side will be the rangefinder range so if ur using say a us low tier tank with a worthless scope that cant see close to the mil dots this is a very useful technique

I love gunner sight on. Make me slow aiming & sometime make me being bad aiming but that is more realistic

This was set to yes for me although my only problem with it was with the French M4A1 as for some reason the barrel would fly around randomly in the gun sight

I’ll be honest, on PC you can use all of your machine gunners at once, but if you are on Console, you have to set it on either a keyboard or replace another button with the machine gun button, but it only sets itself to one of them if you have several

To be honest I prefer it because it feels more "realistic"

the m3 bradley actually benefits from using tank gunner sight as it is much higher than the barrel and can let you use atgms over a hill

All of those who played war thunder should definitely ues this. with the barrel blocking half the sight it makes it feel more real. And it's fun to use

this setting was never on for me bit when i found out about it i thought it was sick and turned it on. nothing really changed but i quickly saw why after a few close quarters. went back to normal after a week

They should force tank gunner sights for realistic battles

I like to have it on when playing in realistic so when i go back to playing sim i dont have to adjust

It should be MANDATORY to play with gunner sight view on RB as it is on SB.

I’ve made it to 8.7 and have always learned the parallax, I am only now being made aware of this, my mind is blown now. Playing things like a stuh is going to be so much better
