--------------------- -------------------- -------------------- -------------------- -------------------- ---------------
Charles Eisenstein is an American author and public speaker who examines the unspoken narratives that direct our society and our lives. His work covers a wide range of topics, including the history of human civilization, economics, spirituality, and the ecology movement. Key themes explored include anti-consumerism, interdependence, and how myth and narrative influence culture.
Eisenstein graduated from Yale University with a degree in Mathematics and Philosophy. He lived in Taiwan for nine years, where he became fluent in Mandarin Chinese and worked as a translator. He married there, had children, and later returned to the United States. The Ascent of Humanity, which was published in 2007, became his first commercially successful book, launching his writing career. Eisenstein has since written many books including The More Beautiful World our Hearts Know is Possible and Sacred Economics.
His newest book, The Coronation, In The Coronation, social philosopher Charles Eisenstein presents key building blocks of post-Covid sense-making. These unforgettable essays narrate the disintegration of an old normal, and old reality, even, Eisenstein says, an old mythology. Controversial when they first appeared, these essays-with new introductions to each by the author-ring with relevancy as the charge dissipates from previously hot-button issues. Now, as we survey the post-Covid landscape, we have the opportunity to build something more sound, more whole, and more sane.
Please enjoy my conversation with Charles Eisenstein.

I am turning 65 years old in a few weeks. I always try to be kind, compassionate and non judgemental. I obviously do not always succeed. The one thing I know for sure is that there are so many people like me out there. We can be found in all walks of life, all around the world. We are just busy being a light in the world so we do not get much attention yet. Blessed Be.

I loved what Mr. Eisenstein said about not needing a large audience to make an impact on the world and that the heart knows what you need to be doing. My heart told me that the most important thing I could do was to care for my mother through her thirteen years of dementia. It was challenging, I can't pretend it wasn't, but it was also the most fulfilling experience of my life and I can't tell you how many times strangers would stop to tell me what it meant to them to see me caring for my mother. And toward the end of her life mom made a comment about her spiritual understanding which I felt inspired to post as a comment under a youtube video we'd just listened to together. Last time I checked it had gathered almost 8,000 likes and almost 500 comments. And so many of them said mom's words had changed their life, or blessed them immensely, or they'd remember her words the rest of their lives. I didn't have any audience. It was just mom and me every day and all of a sudden her words went around the world and touched thousands.

I can't worry for all the people in the world, but I can worry about myself...by this I mean, if I try every day to be more kind, patient, and compassionate towards others no matter how they treat me...then maybe that might trigger something in them to pass it along to others.

Being a person who, for all my life, has been in my imagination/magical world, I’ve never understood why everyone didn’t share my outlook. Why didn’t everyone feel the spiritual ness of being in nature etc..? At 59 yrs young, it’s nice to finally see more and more waking up.❤

It's not a case of waking up. A lot of people (including myself here) do not just believe in stuff willy nilly or in hearsay. There needs to be evidence that is strong enough to filter out the noise, and most of it is noise. That's why science works. It is a filter. Science probably misses a lot, but that's the price we pay for clarity. I've seen nothing substantive in any of these podcasts, but I'm open to be presented with credibal claims about 'spiritual' stuff (what 'spiritual' actually means is not even consistent). Hope that answers your question.

I get what you mean about being in nature. When I walk my dog in the woods, I feel something when I’m amongst the trees. I can’t really describe it except to say it’s a calmness/happiness/blissful type feeling that i don’t experience anywhere else. It feels different to the happiness and calm I feel anywhere else. ❤

my point has always been "who is the common denominator in all the things that a person complains about?" (look in the mirror.) Once I learned to focus on my own responses instead of perceived (or blatant) violations, I found a much more peaceful life. Sometimes that has involved withdrawing from some places or people who threatened my integrity. Some people cling so tightly to preconceived notions that they may kill to preserve the belief. In that case, putting distance between yourself and that person or group, in love, is the best possible choice. You release them to their own choices and desires and pursue what is best for you. We are each on our individual journey, within the collective journey.

someone had to originate the act of violence though. I guarantee you could trace it back but it probably spans generations upon generations so it's pointless. but people can still originate acts that are violent or they are a violation u could say. modern people are more at the effect than the cause because this whole matrix has been set up w so many violations that are affecting how we behave

One of your guests suggested saying the word Love six times an hour and to see what will happen. I keep moving all day long and do not always hit each hour, but I still have noticed the lift it brings, easy. Later, I was in a hurry and came to a T intersection where I needed to turn. A man was stopped in the intersection talking to a homeowner and was oblivious to me with my turn signal on. In times past, I likely would have gotten irritated at him. Instead, I remembered and enhanced my repetitions by mentally throwing a love-empowered snowball at him. At that moment, he noticed me and moved enough for me to get by. We just smiled at one another. His conversation with his friend continued. They both seemed happy at seeing one another. I am glad I fed on the positive and did not stink up that moment for them with negativity and self-righteous entitlement.

Thank you for validating my work as a grandmother and also as a daughter: I am currently caring for my dad who is 90. I'm single and he lives with me, he has poor health and it is hard every day watching him struggle to cough up fluid from his lungs, walk and balance, and get puffed on the slightest exertion. It's been 7 months now, my social life doesn't exist as I can only leave him for an hour or so to go grocery shopping. I don't want him to die, and yet I struggle like a caged bird, simultaneously knowing this is a precious time, not knowing how long he's got with his congestive heart failure and other conditions. But it's giving me time at home too, and I am watching NLS almost every day, it's really helping me not to go crazy. 🙂

The smallest gestures of pure love and kindness matter more than we can ever know….and that’s so wonderful and powerful to know ☺️ also, those gestures feel so good to ourselves, that it doesn’t matter whether it matters to anyone else (even though it does) and the beauty of not being in control of where that power may lead

I understand looking at someone else's trauma and understanding that it has shaped how that person relates in the world. Still, the trauma has to stop somewhere and every parent, for example, can probably remember points in their children's lives when they were tempted to say or do the same parenting mistakes of their own childhood. There is a point of consciousness and clarity where a decision is made not to repeat the mistakes made and foisted upon them and to break the cycle. So I can understand bad behavior due to a person's history, still that person is responsible for their choices.

All we have to do is to try to fix ourselves and become best version of ourselves so those who come after us won't have to overcome obstacles we had overcame in our lives, even if it is a thought pattern and we have managed to break and heal it then our kids won't have to deal with it as we are energetically connected with them but they will continue to try and heal the stuff we didn't heal it, just a thought.

" I have seen tomorrow" Awakened by beautiful singing of various birds I looked out the window at this world of our dreams The sun was peeking out over the horizon again It will feed us with its energy throughout the day I went for a walk down the street after breakfast I met life there in a beautiful disguise Everyone was friendly to each other The earth pulsated with its crop and fertility to all The schools was helping each soul to bring out its own potential Politicians and corporations have always cared about every citizen Everyone exchanged ideas for a better tomorrow Doctors restored each one to the best health Military was wandering around the world to find those in need All the angels in our heaven were happy Everyone celebrated by dancing together after a shared meal Life was effortless for anyone There were no divisions because everyone understood well That we will have to take care of everyone and our mother Earth So that our place is beautiful as on the day of creation We must strive to ensure that these are assumptions and our goals Mamy thanks 🙏 and many blessings 👍😊🍀💕

" How often does synchronicity happen, you understand, the right people or person, message at the right time?" This podcast this morning was exactly what I needed. Thank you for supporting and planting the seed of the importance of considering the non reductionist mentality consciousness, which if held by more individuals could change the dynamic of the world, we live in. Soo good. Thank you for being you and bringing forth an expansion of thought.

It has taken me a long, hard road to realize I don't have to stay angry at those who have hurt me. I've been working on forgiveness but it sure isn't easy for me. I ask God to help me with that. I've tried to step off this world and attempted suicide. I spent a little time in a facility that seemed more like a prison than a place to heal. I literally talked to everyone stuck in there with me to figure out the quickest way out the door and was out in the shortest time. I went to therapy. I take meds. I volunteered. I quit my misserable job in an office and now drive special needs kids which I love. I am learning to be less judgmental of others and myself. We all are on a road that isn't always easy. I believe in Heaven because I saw it when I was 11. I saw my brother who died and my aunt. Heaven called to me as it was so much better than here. I know I've been saved multiple times from dying, by guardian spirits. I am naturally giving and giving makes me happier and I gain from kindness. Sometimes if I see a person act badly towards a person, I try to counteract it with a kind word. I know how it feels to be spoken to in a horrible way. We should all look out for each other. I'm growing. I never stop. Life is a school for sure.

To anyone else out there that is in a lot of pain, it is not your fault and you didn't necessarily manifest it. Maybe we choose these things for reasons beyond our current perception and chose our suffering as a life lesson, who knows? I think now that there are some just some conditions that are just a fact and we need to just make our peace with that. If anyone believes I'm wrong then I am certainly open to persuasion 😊

What he said about people coming into this world to heal generational karma makes a lot of sense. Maybe that's what Jesus wanted to teach us to do? If we suffer patiently without blaming anybody, maybe we heal ourselves and the whole situation, because that way it cannot propagate and continue anymore. Is that how Jesus could take on the karma of the whole world, by forgiving his tormentors, and knowing that they didn't know what they were doing?

Alex, thank you for introducing me to this exceptionally thoughtful man! I'm sure your other viewers feel the same. It was fascinating how you could "see" Charles thinking. Some thoughts that stuck: Life as the "Garden of forking paths"; that we can little by little program ourselves to choose the joyful path; that we should follow our heart to "declare the reality" of our lives. SO MUCH packed into the hour. Looking at his book list, THE CORONATION must be particularly "mind-blowing"! ❤🧡💛💚💙💜 Again, wonderful interview!!

It’s so easy to get upset over apparently cruel circumstances. But there’s room within to unconditionally love anymore and everyone. And you can decide to define yourself that way or at least strive towards, whether God and an afterlife exists or not. That’s real maturity imo.

My late grandparents never participated in gossip. I don’t recall a single memory of them bad talking other people. They embodied humility. My grandfather would say, “if you can’t say anything good about another then it’s best to say nothing at all.” My Gran would say, “there but for the grace of God walk I.” Beautiful lessons in life. I learned to respect the humanity in others from my grandparents.

I love living in a "greater reality," life is to much more exquisite from within this greater reality. And, every time any of us lives from within this greater reality, it gives "permission" for others to do the same and not feel like an outlier; to instead, feel seen, heard, understood and welcomed. I don't find mystical experiences to be uncomfortable at all, I cherish them, and in doing so bring more of them into this physical realm. Thank you Alex for this interview, and Charles for your always insightful words and energy.

What a wonderful conversation. I remember seeing Charles on Oprah many years ago and was impressed and inspired. I had the grandparents you spoke to...uncondional love. Without them, my life would have been so very different. And yet, my brother who had the same grandparents, has embraced and become something very different. I agree, we do not come in as blank slates and, I believe gender plays an important role in our development. Over the years I have downloaded, on my own, much of what Charles talks about. I was thrilled to have these knowings mirrored back to me........"In a world filled with drama Kings and Queens, some of us come in for Mission Impossible." Alex and Charles, I thank you from my heart. 💜💜
