PEOPLE are feared to have been trapped after a tugboat capsized and sank off the coast of Greenock.
The vessel turned over near Customs House Quay earlier this afternoon.
Rescue workers raced to the boat in a race to rescue the crew.
Unconfirmed reports suggested people were trapped in the overturned ship as witnesses told how Coastguard crews were spotted tapping on the hull and shouting.
A Coastguard helicopter was spotted overhead and other ships were in the water near the scene.
Eyewitnesses told how they spotted the boat as part of the hull was just visible above the waterline before they saw it sink just after 4pm.
