My husband and Mom will be the only ones in the room. I also don't want any visitors after I deliver, it's bad enough the nurses will keep coming in & out of the room to check on you and the baby. I feel like that's me & my husbands time to relax, enjoy our baby, and bond🤗

I was in so much pain. My MIL was laughing at me. It was heart breaking when your husband was not supportive. She was gossiping about while I was in labor. Worse person I had met in my life. Year after we separate. Even she try to take my daughter away from me. Well its been 11 years ago but I can never forget what she make me go through.

So when my Husband and I were dating 5 years ago, she told me that she has seen all her grandchildren born. Thats great. She has asked many times if I get pregnant can she attend the birth. I told her I would decide when I am pregnant. After being in this family for several years, I have decided my mil can't be in the room. I want whoever is in there to be a support to me. She isn't. I think she would just be running her mouth and distracting my Husband. She likes to complain and I want him completely focused on me and coaching me through labor. So I have decided we will call them after the baby is born, not when i go into labor. Then there won't be any hurt feelings when they arrive and I don't let her see the birth. She may be upset, but I believe the woman should choose who to have with her.

Ashlie Leavelle this is your body and baby. Don’t be afraid to tell you MIL that you don’t want her there. It’s not like she can force herself into the hospital room. I know my hospital that I’m delivering at has a secure floor and there is only one way for family members to get to labor and delivery and it’s by escort and they call before they come up to the room otherwise they make you wait in a separate room until you give the ok for them to come. Also my mom is too emotional for birth she would literally be crying the entire time. N I only have room for one emotional person when I’m in labor and that’s me. So I’m in the same boat as you. We decided that we only want myself and my spouse there and my parents n family won’t come til after. It helps especially that they live out of state.

@@beggin4thebeat353 Yep, I'm sort of the same way except I'd actually be much more likely to let my mother in law be there than my own mother, she's a lot more emotional supportive, gentle, and less pushy/bitchy/etc. I can easily see my mom making the whole thing a lot more difficult. I love my mom, but she's been pretty awful to me for most of my life and has mental issues (so do I but I don't take mine out on other people, she does and she takes it out on me the most.) So if I do meet her come at all, it'll be in the early part of labor before things get really intense, then she can come back after the baby is already born. My mother in law is planning on coming down from another state about 5 days after my due date, so if that happens to be when I'm actually in labor, I'll probably let her be there for at least a good bit of it because she might actually be helpful rather than making it harder. I think your absolutely right that it should be 100% up to you and no one else should have any say in who's in there. If you don't feel comfortable with a certain person being there or with any people but your partner being there, no one has any right to try to push it. Do whatever you're comfortable with. And if anyone gives you crap about that decision, that's just more proof that you don't want them there. If they're going to push you on that, they're going to be a negative force for you during the process too because they obviously don't care about whether or not you feel comfortable during your own labor and delivery. I wish you the best and hope it goes really well for you. This is my first baby (lost one before this, but first baby I'll actually make it to labor with I mean) and I'm super super nervous lol. So I hope you're not nervous like me and that everything goes as smoothly as possible. ❤️❤️❤️

I have a whole bunch of family that thinks it's okay to invite themselves to my delivery so I made it very clear that I only really want my husband there with me and maybe my mother. Nothing wrong with telling people it's your time, they'll get over it when they hold your baby at home anyway.

This is so right, I ended up taking my mother along as she especially came for the baby from a different country and I realised it was a huge mistake as she was panicking and she didn't get along with my husband either

My son will be 10 in July, but he has special needs. I would find it a huge comfort for him to be there, but I’m not too sure if he would be up for it.

Covid rules state I can have one visitor. My husband is considered my visitor. Thank God we didn't choose a midwife. I only get one person and couldn't imagine it being anyone other then my husband!
