To clarify, that is actually her singing the high note, regardless of the fact that she has trouble singing it live. It took her many tries in studio to get it perfect without squeak, and you can't blame her for not hitting it live.

I think the reason this note resonates with so many people is that it's also a primal scream. That scream is pain, anguish, rage and release all rolled into one perfectly placed note. That is all.

I Always start tearing up when this note hits while listening to this song because its the scream of someone who has felt so much pain, anguish, betrayal, rage & so much more finally being able to be free and let it all out in what could really be described as a cleansing scream aka when people tell you that screaming it out can help at times, this is what they mean. Sometimes-- you just need to scream.

Whether is a whistle note or not, auto tuned or not, it works so well in this song, giving off this feeling of raw emotion that just grabs you. It may not work for everyone, but damn, it's working for me. It feels like exactly what should be there, the cherry on top of this emotional rollercoaster of a song.

MC Fan101 Also there is no such thing as "upper chest whistles" or "head whistles". The whistle register is a disconnected register and is completely different from chest and head voice and requires a completely different technique to achieve a true whistle.

I have always loved Kesha and known of her vocal abilities, but seeing people react to what she has always been able to do is some kind of special gratification. She is a true artist and she always has been. Here I am in 2020 quarantined and just remembering how awesome the first time I heard this song was brings me to tears. What a gift.

The F6 wasn't a "whistle". as I found out. It's an eye-wateringly HIGH-ass falsetto note. And it doesn't sound processed or Auto-Tuned at all, which is what makes it so bloody brilliant. Even though I know it's not a whistle, I'll just keep calling it a "Mariah Carey moment".

When I first heard her whistle I thought of it as a beautiful scream. The emotion I felt was something I could only let out in a scream, but that whistle fit that emotion beautifully while still being audibly pleasing. The whole song puts ugly emotions in beautiful words. Love it
