The "messy" aesthetic. If a pretty girl wears some oversized hoodie and sweatpants to class, she's effortlessly cute for being natural and chill. If an ugly or overweight person wears the same thing, they are seen as careless and lazy
@alessandrobotti34815 жыл бұрын
If you're overweight you probably are careless and lazy...
@FilmerVicz5 жыл бұрын
being overweight is different to being unattractive, as the former is liable for change solely with willpower.
@domo1905 жыл бұрын
Alessandro Botti Not true at all. At least not in ALL cases. You even see it in some youtubers, like FouseyTube is a great example. He wasn’t careless or lazy, he was just really really busy with making a career on KZfaq and he went from pretty fit guy to overweight over the years before he started working out again. And another KZfaqd AfroSenju, he’s not fat by any means right now but because he put so much time into KZfaq and trying to start a career you can see his face is a little chubbier nowadays.
@FilmerVicz5 жыл бұрын
@@domo190 you act as though not all people are stressed out trying to keep food on the table, a youtuber's career is easy as fuck compared to others and it should be seen as embarrassing if you can't manage your time to get a workout in. Even if u just work out in the morning before you shower or choose a better diet, your employment has nothing to do with it

I think that's somewhat more true for men than for women. Both genders gain social advantages from being attractive, but for women that can also come with an increased threat of stalking, rape, and other violent crimes, and if you're an introverted person you might get stressed out from having a huge amount of sexual attention focused on you. Not to mention, attractive women are stereotyped as being unintelligent, so it could be hard to get people to take you seriously.

In my case, I just don't give pencils to people unless I really, really trust them. Throughout most of my years in school, they would ask, I would give it to them, and they wouldn't return it, so at one point I just stopped unless I knew they would return it for sure. Coincidentally, well, mostly unattractive people were the ones asking, so I'm sorry to those who thought I wasn't giving them a pencil because I thought they weren't attractive, because that was just simply not the case, I just didn't trust them.

Or: keep to ourselves. Ugly people (though I doubt you all look that bad, I just have no interest in 3D peeps), or those who think they are ugly when they could pass off as above average if tried, are generally either bitter and have learned far more often than those who were born beautiful while getting what they wanted. They worked harder(maybe), suffered more(most likely), and are the ones who are purposefully ignored (70% sure on this). Try disappearing, someone is going to start missing you. I don’t care whether you were/are bullied or someone else’s free therapist, try disappearing and people will start lashing out on each other. They could have been the most popular kids, the jocks, heck your teachers, and when you stop giving them your company or attention they’ll revert back to being emotionally unstable children. Has no one ever wondered *why* it’s usually the slightly less attractive best friend that makes the best listener? It’s because we can offer them that. Now imagine where a bunch of “ugly” people congregate for company, there’s so many things we could do: talk, find a corner to hide or just appreciate that there’s no one “good-looking” blocking the natural sunlight. I honestly don’t know where I lost track at, all I know is that, without “ugly” in this world, nothing “beautiful” would be worth it’s salt today. So be proud, and remember, that your presence could literally make or break someone.

People forgot to mention mental abuse/being toxic. Most romantic dramas will have a hot male protagonist be the "bad boy" or "player" and the female protagonist magically changes him. While throughout the entire drama he's constantly manipulating, or cheating on her. And the audience is all for him and suddenly he's every teenage girls crush. But if an unattractive man was that toxic in a relationship he'd be canceled.

I might be wrong, but at some point in time somewhere (idk where, might have been Fiji you're talking about) fat people were "attractive" (quote because of the reason I'm going to explain now) because being fat would most likely mean that you were rich enough to eat well. @SomethingScanning In Ancient Greece, the monobrow was considered beautiful as well. I also love them and try to cultivate mine. It adds a sort of austere, piercing elegance, in my opinion. Large penises were also considered unattractive in Ancient Greece as a mark of animalistic, thuggish and uncivilised nature or something like that. (Gotta say, I kind of agree with that one, too.) Psychologically, there's not much we can do to convince our minds that their assumptions are wrong. The most I can do is make an effort to ignore initial impressions and judge based on behavioural observation.

Being ugly has 1 perk, if someone loves you, they love you for who you are. Can't say that for attractive and / or rich people Edit: since a lot of people think I'm being serious, this is a joke, it's meant to be taken as a joke, and has barely any actual logic behind it. Y'all are beautiful, cause beauty is a perspective, what you think is preety could be super ugly to me and vice versa. So cheer up mates

( Sorry for my bad english ) I'm not a good looking guy, when i was in High school there was this dance that every class had to do at the end of the year, it was like a competition between classes, so here i was in my class and we were preparing the dance by deciding who was going to dance with who ( boys with girls ), almost everyone had their partner ( there was more girls than boys in my class ). There was like three girls left and i was the only one left to be chosen, i'm was the quiet type of boy, always minding my own business, but one of the girls that was preparing the dance asked to the other one that still didn't had a partner if she wanted to dance with me, she looked at her and made a expression like she was going to puke. We had the same experience but I'm a girl. I remember it was in highschool. All of us had to participate in a dance, there were also too many girl and boys at that time. The teacher allow us to choose partners by ourselves. I remember like there we're also 4 girls who got left out, me included. The teachers told the boys that if someone would like to have a double partner means that they'll have to partcipate again just to dance to those who doesn't have any partner yet. No one answer. The teacher then instructed us to ask one of them to be our partner in their free time then I remember it was during our breaktime, I ask this one guy if he would like to be my partner because it was breaktime he was obviously with his friends, he's friends giggle and look at each other and they were tapping him on his shoulder, one of them was even raising his eyebrow. They look like they were joking and then one guy whisper to him "you have to deal with it". Eventhough I clearly heard that I still wasn't taken aback, I just stand their and politely smile because I'm also shy. During our dance he had to hold me by the waist and he look so uncomfortable doing that, it felt like he's not touching me, he's just placing his hands but he's not completely like holding me, it's like his hand was floating and all that touching my waist is his palm only and his finger wasn't like bended and holding me (if you get me), he's also not looking at me, his diverting his eyes unto somewhere and I also felt like his friends was watching laughing at him. After that I thank him but then I got home and think about that and got really hurt to the point that it keeps me up that night. I still think he's nice because he did keep that up with me eventhough his friends was teasing him but seriously after that I felt like I never want to dance with a guy again because I think I'll only make them uncomfortable. I also think to myself after that happened, "am I that ugly?". Yeah sorry for this long text.

He flirted with me a few times but I wasn’t putting up with it. He became somewhat of a friend to me later in the school year though, he’s not a bad guy. There was another guy at my school not so attractive and not really athletic. Had the same type a personality of the attractive guy. yeah but the only way we could get “attractive” ppl to acknowledge pretty privilege is if we magically transformed into a meritocratic society where ppl are rewarded solely for what they know and can do to benefit society. Otherwise, we just have to accept that EVRYONE’s experience is truly subjective. A white person will never know what it’s like to black person-does it make them inherently a horrible person? No, they literally cannot speak to an experience they’ve never had, rather all they can do is take someone’s word for it. (the race thing as an example btw.) But if we want things to change, I think we need to A. Stop rewarding pretty ppl for being mediocre B. Acknowledge that a part of us instinctually responds nicer and faster to ppl we find attractive. •Hunny• I agree with both. When I was in high school I had a crush on a guy considered unattractive to most ppl but I liked how he was smart and sensitive but also kind of bold-he was in personality similar to me because I was sensitive but he was my opposite in being bold. I really liked the idea of how we balanced out personality wise. But I’m kind of ugly myself so I don’t know if that makes a difference, to me he was physically attractive in some ways (he breakdanced once which was fun and he didn’t make a big deal of being overweight). But being not pretty myself I know that it’s true that life is more difficult when you’re ugly and agree with everyone on that. I was afraid of confessing to that guy partly because I thought he might not like my appearance. (Mainly because I didn’t have guts, was ridiculously shy.). I was kind of a coward, and always waited for him to ask me out but he never did. And that’s how that story ended. I can say though that Hunny you’re not the only one who likes ppl based on interest/personality. I just wonder if guys can also like girls based on that too-so far I still question if a guy can like a girl that isn’t pretty. But yeah, it’s not easy being ugly.

My friend from 8th grade was the guy who wears supreme and blasts mumble rap in class, and even tho i was friends with him and other classmates were he was always the alfa of any situation. He was often rude and set his own rules (blasting music for example) but everyone seemed to be ok with it cuz he was the cool dude. He was attractive, and wore expensive clothes and that gave him the "rights" to be as he was. Although he was too dickish to have a girlfriend.
A person who has alot to say "Ugly" person: talks about things that are cool to talk about Others: "..." "..no one asked" etc. Pretty person: talks about other things they want to voice Others: "I agree" "you're funny" etc. (I'm not shaming pretty people or "not-as-pretty" people, it's ok to be pretty and i think per say ugly and pretty people should all be treated with respect🙂 also i experienced people kinda being annoyed by me ^^; it's okay though it just happens)

I feel like being attractive is somewhat associated with “being healthy/looks healthy” and that somewhere on the along the lines that shows how much someone cares for oneself, their boy and health, and that kinda gives an idea of personality in the sorts? Just an idea and it doesn’t apply to EVERYONE but just something 😂

This made me chuckle at first but then i started getting depressed bc it reminded me of high school. i had a best friend who everyone thought was really pretty and i felt ugly next to her. The crazy thing is, she was very mean to every guy and she was judgmental to everyone. But she still got a pass bc she was pretty. While me being nice and kind and outgoing, Guys never paid much attention to me and i was invisible bc everyone always was interested in her. Additionally, i had gotten the courage to talk to guys i liked but was met with cold responses or excuses as to why they couldnt text back. Finally at 16 i got a bf and even he said he had dated girls prettier than me. All those experiences destroyed my self esteem. Im in college now and everyone says ive glowed up a lot. My hair grew and i got good at makeup, my braces came off and i gained a little weight as i was underweight before. Comparing my new self to my old self i see a big difference but i still feel like an ugly person bc of my HS experiences. When ppl treat u like ur invisible and constantly pass u up for someone better looking despite u having a better personality it really sticks with u for a long time and even kinda screws up ur own perception of urself. I wish ppl didnt treat others differently bc of looks. Bc of all the rejection i faced in HS even if im prettier now i still lack confidence immensely.

My brother has cerebral palsy and is in a wheelchair. Almost daily he goes out for a walk and always ends up at Tim Horton’s. He thought the cashier was pretty but him being awkward-only with girls- tripped over his words when ordering. A few days later he goes back and asks her if she is on fb and if she wants to be friends...she says no and tells the manager that my brother is harassing her. The manager knew my brother (because of his daily routine) and didn’t exactly believe the cashier but had to speak to my brother to cover his own backside. She was eventually fired and my brother has never approached a girl again. This happened over 6 years ago. This video hurt my heart. I’m gutted that people are treated so unfairly with a quick glance to assess the outward appearance.

When i was in highschool i had greasy skin, horrible posture, long greasy hair, no confidence in my voice and was basically talentless wrapped up in 119 lbs of skin and bone . After i dropped out of college i weighed 150 pounds of pure muscle, clear skin, much cleaner and better kept hair, could fill out my clothes much more comfortably and had a good paying job that allowed me to expand my wardrobe with a much better sense of style and masculine demeanors. The absolute stark difference in the way people treat me is outstanding. I went from being a kid in highschool everyone either found annoying or ignored to a man that has loads of people invting me to go out with them. To try and hook me up with their friends, the same corny sense of humor everyone found annoying in highschool was now charming and cute and i swear to you girls and guys alike just keep their eyes on me a lot longer. Looks don't mean everything, but don't fool yourself into thinking they don't mean anything.

Literally just talking to new people. If an average looking person joins a group of people just to have conversation, they aren’t accepted or even hardly acknowledged. If an attractive person comes up to a random group to join in, they’re immediately accepted without question. I know this is true, because it’s the story of my life. (The first scenario)

The problem with that is some can be attractive to one group or one person but not another. Attractiveness is based on many factors and not all of them include being physically appealing. Beauty isn't something concrete, it changes depending on person or persons. No one is universally beautiful.
@akaededeval3745 жыл бұрын
For me it's the second scenario, I don't even need to do anything they do the first move, which mostly turns out to be annoying and creepy (no matter if the guys approaching are goodlooking or not), I'll probably be super cool with floods of girls hitting on me if I was a man though
@KuroiRenge5 жыл бұрын
You know, I'm not a stellar-looking guy. Hell, I'd say under average, even, but the one thing I've never seemed to have an issue with is integrating myself into a group. At least, not since I got out of high school. Maybe it's a skill I've acquired, such as reading body language, getting a feel for personalities, or it's just enough confidence to show what kind of person I am from the get-go, but there is certainly something there that one can learn to do to overcome the aesthetics. At least, to a pretty good degree. P.S. Nailing someone in their humor bone doesn't hurt, either. Making someone laugh is a great way to break ice.

i was one of the few black girls who went to a mostly arab/white school. growing up, i was energetic and pretty nice. i made lots of "friends" but only talk to 4 of them to this day. i would get teased by a lot of guys. i remember one time a teacher made me and another guy shake hands cause we were having a disagreement. after doing so, he had a disgusted look on his face and wiped his hand on his pants. they teased me about my skin color and things like that. it really took a toll on my confidence and self esteem. i turn 17 in a couple weeks and friends say im beautiful to this day and im not even sure. even with make up on. now thinking about it, i remember a year ago, a guy thought i was cute and wanted my snapchat. i didn't believe him cause i thought he was messing with me. that's how bad of an effect my elementary/middle school years did to me. i wish i would've given him my snapchat. ):

Your experience was SUPER similar to how I grew up and what I experienced. I’m 26 now, so I feel compelled to tell you that one of my biggest life regrets so far is believing the mean shit that other kids said to me growing up. Internalizing the mean comments kept me from thinking anyone could even be attracted to me pretty much until I was about 22 years old. So much wasted time, and for what? In retrospect, some of those kids probably don’t even mean what they say, they just want to fit in, so they tease alongside other kids. And the ones who do mean it, they’re assholes who will likely grow up to not do much with their lives anyways. Anyways, know that you are beautiful!!! Don’t listen to others and don’t be afraid to let your light shine 🌞 peace, love and power 💕
