For non brits, a brief explanation, at some stage during secondary school a class is no longer separated by house (if you have them) or random. Instead it’s done by ability and called set. You are not explicitly told which set you’re in but everyone has a strong suspicion judging by classmates and mates will let you know for sure. Set 1 is for the smartest kids, set 2 is for the pretty smart kids but don’t try hard enough etc - there isn’t necessarily an exact set 8 in every school but they’re so low that they’re pretty recognisable as the “special” kids. So in sum, being called set 8 is another way of saying you’re stupid and mentally challenged.

As an American, I can assure u we are not all dumb. We actually do learn geography and world history

I will say this as you get older you do tend to forget things so when adults are get put on the spot i don't really laugh cause i know i'm close to getting at the point. Cause as kids you are always learning and keep learning. When you are an adult nobody really teaches you things you just go with the flow.

I've heard multiple Americans asked a geography question and they say "I don't know anything about history". They aren't taught anything up to date about other countries after WW2, that's why they think ppl in the UK still talk like they're from the 1940s, think all of Africa is mud huts and starving ppl etc. To a lot of them geography is just history so it's not important today. Their education system does them so dirty.
