I hate the parent trope in movies where the child is clearly distressed about someone or something, but the parents ignore them and say "stop being crazy" or "its just teenager stuff" like what? If your child is uncomfortable, there should be no question about it
@user-it4nu7im1v3 ай бұрын
I know youre young so don't get offended,that someone has a different opinion. 1.the plot wouldn't be as good if the parents enabled him and helped him pass these trials, this itself is what makes it relate able 2.its because movies are made by directors who raised kids right instead of helicopter parenting. If I was 10 talking about things from my dreams I'd want my parents to not enable me and bring me back to reality, there is a big difference between your parents not believing dreams are real and uncle Phil was to handsy one time.
@gamingdelight78103 ай бұрын
@user-it4nu7im1v i would argue that the movie is less enjoyable with the obvious trope, but I guess you're right. Marvel has made so much money on overused hollywood tropes There is also a difference between a child who is visibly anxious and uncomfortable and a nightmare
@laithbali20343 ай бұрын
Okay but that’s not always a trope. Plenty of parents aren’t good ones
@user-it4nu7im1v3 ай бұрын
@@gamingdelight7810 there is also a difference between a child who sees clinics for mental disorders and is becoming anxious in one and a child that is just anxious about things of life. 20 years ago I was 8 and had sleep paralysis and rather than enable me my mum simply taught me you can have nightmares while awake if you wake up early from a dream. Now you compare the same scenario with my sister who got helicopter parented due to anxiety she got enabled and slept in mums bed for weeks till the point my ma would sleep on the couch. It may come as no surprise but her existence is the reason I despise helicopter parents because she is 19, can only cook noodles (not even joking she is to scared to bake a packet cake) , can't make a phone call, can't shop on her own most the time she doesn't even leave the car but sends my mum in to shop for her 💀 never worked, waits for her room to get so messy mum cleans it. Kids should always be believed about problems but in my opinion you don't have to help kids everytime otherwise they end up as like my sister, incapable of doing literally anything besides existing. Honestly I'm just a boomer in a younger mans body and I'm glad to be this way, on nice days I just say I stole all the good genetics and she got left with the scraps. I'm hangry when I wrote all of this >:(

She was that mom who wanted to be friends with her kids, & made her kids' friends call her mom, & then became friends with her kids' friends, etc. If we decided "lets check out this private school" (it would definitely be a joint decision, with the promise that if anyone changed their mind, they wouldn't have to go), and something didn't feel right, my mom would put on a huge dramatic scene, & be elated just at the chance to prove she's *that* mom who always has her kid's back. (not from drugs, like these people had careers and dressed nicely and were civilian like) and that no one would notice or call em out. which even made them so paranoid/panic like state. as if they're the only ones who were noticing them in public. and how they stood still and observed the area while everyone was trying to get to point a to point b. and this scene kinda freaked me out, they just told the stories with insane details. (like the stories you hear or come across that could of been made up but the story itself just stuck with you for some reason) they told and shared the stories, even the next day they would tell it again because they don't want to forget no matter what, they were always saying till this day they worry and hope the teens they came across are okay. because they never heard or seen them again and wished they couldve done more for them instead of hearing them out. For those wondering, this movie is called “The Dark Tower". It follows the story of an 11-year-old boy, Jake, who is haunted by visions of a Man in Black attempting to destroy a tower and bring ruin to the Universe. As you can see in this clip, his visions were dismissed as nightmares by his family and psychiatrists. Jake's life changes when he finds a portal to Mid-World, a post-apocalyptic world. There, he teams up with 2 persons, to stop the Man in Black from destroying the Dark Tower, which holds the universe together. This movie is an adaptation of Stephen King's book series of the same name.

You know what I think? If someday (not too far in the future, tho, bc some people would grow up and stuff, but we know it's not happening and it will be late if someone calls the shots for it, but let's imagine anyways) someone gets into doing a TDT TV series, telling a more faithful to the source material version of this story, they should have this kid playing Jake once again. I think he played the part well and was the most source accurate in the looks along with Matthew. Relatively, tho. The kid doesn't look too little to have twelve, and Matthew looks more like Randall Flagg in a black suit than like Walter O'Dim, thought they are one and the same in the end. Actually, maybe it's better that it would be an animated TV series, with a real slick art style and animations. Can be as source accurate as it gets, and having a cast growing old wouldn't be a concern.
@jacoborivas45842 ай бұрын
Also, the series should have everything outside the main saga but closely related to it included. From the story of Roland's past as depicted in the King/Marvel collab comic series, including the tale of the Fall of the giant Perth, to bits of the other stories from the books of Salem's Lot and Hearts in Atlantis portraying the moments before the story of each book's characters who are to meet the Ka-tet go in collision course with the main story. I mean, a bit of their backstory from their own books + their backstory as told in the TDT books where they appear. They definitely should include the “Glowing of the White” as described in Salem's Lot whenever the Ka-tet engages in combat with vampires. Except for the part when Roland finally meets the Crimson King in person, in the Dark Tower. There, it would be cool to have a perspective of the Crimson King's gaze of Roland irradiating white light at some point, instead of just his pistols, like it would be from a vampire's POV, meaning he's a power conduit of the White at that moment, like that other dude from Salem's Lot was for a moment, when he went for the main vampire; no crosses or any kind of amulets, for it were never the crosses by themselves what would deter the vampires, but the power of the White manifesting through sheer conviction of the people holding them and believing in its protection from the Evil, and therefore to said crosses or religious amulets. Same with Father Callahan, just before his demise.

Honestly it ruins movies for me when parents do the typical “stop being crazy” act. Literally not a single parent on planet earth would act like that if their child was genuinely concerned

"Challenging" kids parents are like this. We don't fit a preconceived mold and we get sent to places that "fix" us. This is very real for so many kids

Children are stupid. They are scared of things that do not exist, especially a child with frequent nightmares. I’m sorry you don’t like the way that people would realistically react to a child being scared of “the skin people from my dream”

Bruh if ur kid said "mom its them, the skin people from my dreams" you'd think theyre trippin too. Stop acting like thats a rational thing for parents to believe lmao. I woulda thought my kid needed help too.
@rohanking12able2 ай бұрын
Stop acting like never seeing the facility and sending your kid their isn't dismissive parenting. Secondarily why not calm your kid down by listening to them. The facility literally said they approached the school and that there been working with them a long time. That's contradictory or you said the approached part for no reason
@4thofjuly3952 ай бұрын
Kids misinterpret things. The brain is strange, sure maybe there isn't actually skin people, but that doesn't meqn there isn't the possibility that some real bad people hurt him or he's scared of real people and his mind created these "skin people" as a way to process what he went through.

I remember there was a kid at my school who was super paranoid about a car that would always follow him home. He told his teachers about this but they really didn’t do anything since they thought he was just making things up. A couple weeks later he went over to his friends house after school. He got a call from his mom saying there house got broken into. They later found the guy who did it and he has the exact same car the kid had been describing

@greenpubes3741 The son has a special gift to see the portal and use it to take him to the world where the dark tower exists. The portal that leads directly to the foot of the dark tower is in the black house. The mother is less aware, but she eventually realizes that there is another dimension from her son. The real power is through her son. The gunslinger from the "dark tower" movie had to travel extremely far and pass alot of obstacles to find the dark tower. While the boy from The Talisman could access a direct portal right to the base of the dark tower. The base of the tower was described as a massive mine with many slaves of different interdimensional species.
@cap10zomb2 ай бұрын
His mother had cancer, but he healed it through the power of the dark tower. That's why he is a prince and his mother is a queen. The dark tower is not evil itself. Evil people have control of the dark tower. The dark man is the leader. The gunslinger is the one destined to kill the dark man. The prince and his mother, the queen, were part of the prophesy.
@cap10zomb2 ай бұрын
@greenpubes3741 The boy was important because through his travel to help his mother of cancer, he destroyed one of the dark towers' important resources of slaves and evil energy. The place of evil was a type of orphanage for troubled youth. Remember, these areas existed in both dimensions of "our" earth and in the dimension of the dark tower.
