The plaintiff and defendant lived together. The plaintiff says the defendant’s cat attacked his feline, and his cat needed surgery. He’s suing for vet bills, Uber trips to and from the vet, and loss of work. The defendant argues the plaintiff has a hairless cat who already had an abscess on his back. No one witnessed the fight, so she doesn’t think she owes.

Yes, one of Judge Milian's 'teachable' moments. In addition to justice for the litigants, she seeks to enlighten them to the law, how it pertains to their case, why she is ruling as she does and often advising them on how to prevent it from happening again. Great humanitarian. I'm a big fan.

That cat should have been at the veterinarian getting medical care, both of these people are mind blowing. To let an animal suffer, especially an animal you purport to love, its just not right. This is sad sad sad.

That picture was blown up. Also, it looked worse than it was and it really doesn't cost that much for the treatment of the minor wound. He kept taking the cat back no doubt AFTER she decided to move just to get the vet bill up. The vet appointment plus treatment would not cost even 700. You are looking a 150 to 200 at most! He definitely got away with scamming the judge!

@@jessicapearson9479 The average well-check vet visit for a cat is $50-$100, and if they're sick or have a minor injury it can be up to $1,000. Emergency visits cost even more, and if x-rays, lab tests, and/or surgery is done, it can cost up to $5,000. Then there's medications and follow-up care. Also the cost of living in their area can raise the prices even more. Pets---if you're going to take good care of them--are a huge commitment.

There's a show free to cat owners since 2011 that explains how to socialize the cats. See the photo at 8:10 They just needed multiple "book shelf perch ledges" long enough to hold only one cat a couple feet from the ceiling. Now they feel secure, calm and confident. @@rjhowtos4130

I have two cats. When I got my second cat, I kept him in a large playpen for about a month so that my first cat could get use to him without them physically being together. It's called the screen door technique. A month is about the right time to properly accumulate two cats.

I'm an experienced cat owner, and I've had this situation before. Introducing a new cat into a home with an existing cat, especially a temporary situation, can be tricky and emotional for all involved....

Not just that, when you introduce another animal to a home, not all cats or dogs are welcoming to the new one in town. Animal nature. An experienced per owner. Not all get along.

Jackson Galaxy "My Cat From Hell" since 2011 showed us how to introduce cats. Part of the solution is to install isolated "book shelves" a couple feet from the ceiling that the cat can perch on. The "perch shelves" should hold one cat only. Now the cats feel safe, calm and confident looking down on us hapless humans. 😀🐱🐈

@tamekadavis6641 yes I did she said the same thing as you but the fact is the cat was attacked on the 5th or 6th day and then she left. The judge was saying 30 days would drive her crazy but people who actually know about cats know you can't just throw them together in less than a week. Plus the cat wasn't locked in the room for a month they were separated for a month and the hairless cat would go in the room sometimes while the other cat roamed the apartment so either way you look at it the cat wasn't locked up in a room for 30 days and the attack happened in less than a week

Cat claws have bacteria. Cat scratch fever is not a fairy tale phrase, it is real infections caused by being scratched by a cat. Also, cat bites are notorious for causing abscesses; these abscesses can get really extensive. Abscess surgeries are bread and butter for veterinarians.

I will never understand when I person gets into a car accident that causes 3K of damages to repair, but the car is worth 2K, you are SOL. But if a pet owner has an ANIMAL and it was hurt how can this judge award 10X more than with the ANIMAL is worth in vet bills. These animals are property; they are NOT people as some crazy people believe. I disagree with this judgment and the system!

We brought a cat in because my husband's grandma died. THAT WAS A BAD IDEA! I'm sure we didn't introduce them proper or something. Our cat was use to being by himself with us. He is a very loving cat. Her cat was a typical cat. Our cat would not leave him alone. Very bad idea

@@Web19814 it's pretty typical to have an alpha that will set their boundaries. They usually get over it, key is when one is aggravating the other you get some toys and break their concentration on the other cat. Have them play together in the same area but not together to get used to each other. My cat definitely put the others in their place cause she ran the show, but she always warmed up to them.

OMG my Tía has 4 adult cats, all male and all rescued as adults years apart from one another and introduced to each other immediately and have never had a problem so it literally depends on the cat and the owner. What I will say is keeping them separated most likely irritated the hell outta them which definitely could've caused aggression.

Introducing new cats to an already-established home where cats are already is not that difficult. I have done this many times over the years, and have successfully accomplished this even with feral cats. It is possible with a lot of patience and understanding that yes cats are still animals and they learn to respect each other. Yes, some cats have more of an attitude than other cats, but that is what is to be expected.

Not really when the one cat is an elder, they can be finicky. And dogs are the same way. Not all get along, young an old together.

@trekgirl65 Depends on the animal. My oldest boy will be 16 this Friday. I have gotten new cats with him and he's been good about it. I keep the new one away for about a week or whenever they are ready.

Whether I introduce new cats / kittens or dogs. I always give a two week learning. For one I want to make sure the new introduction to the family is healthy so I keep the new one guaranteed. Making sure they have all the necessary shots and vet checks. Then as an additional safety precaution, I always brush and comb everyone with baby powder, this way there is no different smell. @@clovermccombs8597

We don't even know what the vet bills were for. In addition to that, he didn't take the cat when they had a fight so how were the charges related to that? I didn't agree at all. 😊
