Not believing the defendant. Why wouldn’t you reply? And the plaintiff’s story about not loaning the defendant money is more believable than over hearing someone saying they wanted to snatch the house out from under the defendant. She has the sewing machine.

I fully agree. My real question is that if my house was being foreclosed on, someone other than me is going to buy it. What difference does it make who it is even if it’s my neighbor? You don’t get to say that I cannot pay but anyone can buy it except my neighbor. When you default, you don’t own it anymore. The mortgage company does. They can sell it to anyone that they want.

Some years ago, a friend's sister's daughter ( married & with a 15 yr old son) had visited our home and asked to borrow our oven for making something. I gave it and she never returned it, and when after months I kept asking on the phone and she did not return it, I visited her home and then she said with a cold voice that she had sold it as she needed money. I totally believe that the plaintiff wanted the defendant's house and that the defendant stole her sewing machine. I don't know why the man interviewing at the end always has to say that they will have to pay the judgements because apparently the show pays the judgement not the one who lost. Which is so upsetting in such a case because the thief will still have the sewing machine that the plaintiff has an emotional connection to. It's also not horrible to buy someone else's old house that they lost but you shouldn't expect them to be happy about it.

It makes zero sense to say that you're absolutely 100% sure that you don't have something, but then to say that you need to go check to see if you have it, then to keep going back and forth. I think defendant does have (or had -- maybe it's sold) the machine, and was so mad at plaintiff that she decided to lie and deny it. When asked why she hadn't responded to plaintiff's texts, she would have been much better off saying, "I was so mad at her that I wanted nothing to do with her, so I just ignored her" rather than "well I wasn't sure that I didn't have it and I needed to check in my attic." She wrecked her own argument when she said that.

At the end when the judges are talking about the gold plated pen set... my brother took many of my father's things when he passed by walking into my mother's home while she was gone. He also took an expensive power tool set my husband and I gifted my father. I cant imagine how upset and angry my mother is and I don't even speak with my brother anymore. I know it was dad that passed but that doesn't mean a free for all and take what you want. Sick.

That is an embroidery machine - why would she lend an expensive embroidery machine to make curtains instead of the other machine ? My embroidery machine was £6,500 and I would never lend it as the tensions etc are very complicated and not to be messed with.

I'll tell you why! Machines are expensive and if ANYTHING goes wrong with their computer system, it can cost hundreds of dollars to repair. My serger (less sophisticated than plaintiff's machine) cost $3000 on SALE. I'm very protective of my high-end (and low end) purchases because I take care of everything like it cost a fortune. Others may not take such care; including friends. I'd make the item before I'd loan out my purchases.

Sad about the judges question. When my father passed not one of us 8 kids thought we could take anything from our mother. She passed 15 yrs later and we were able to receive sentimental items we wanted associated with our Dad. But I will say if my son wanted a pen I would probably give to him. Maybe it meant a lot to her though and she was still holding on to her husband. The son should not of taken it for sure.

I don't believe either one of them about different things. I 100% believe the plaintiff said that about waiting her out to buy her house, mainly because of her "uhhhh..." before saying nope. I also believe the defendant has her machine.

The defendant is a liar, and a thief. She literally started off the case saying *”I have my own machine”,* and then two sentences later, she admits to having used the plaintiff’s sewing machine… supposedly in the plaintiff’s sewing room. If she had her own machine, why would the defendant ever have to use the plaintiff’s machine? Then later in the case, she *denied* having ever used the plaintiff’s machine, but JM didn’t pick up on that lie. This is why I don’t borrow anything, and I don’t loan anything.

They’re both lying. The plaintiff says she wanted to buy her friend’s house for a steal. And the defendant took the sewing machine when she moved because she overheard the conversation about “stealing” her house.

The defendant definitely has the sewing machine but probably got rid of it when she moved. She didn't reply to the texts and kept talking about wondering if she had it, even saying she didn't have time to go upstairs and check. That would take one minute. I cannot be sure about the conversation. How did she move without them noticing? Was there no FOR SALE sign or anything like that? Did they not notice the moving? If they were going to buy the house from under her then you would have thought they would be more vigil to that. Also why would they have that conversation when they knew she would be able to hear it if their gardens are so close? On the other hand the plaintiff did look shocked when she heard the story and took a long time to answer. What about the story of always asking to borrow money to finish her second floor. I just cannot decide whether the plaintiff had that conversation. But I am positive that the defendant has the sewing machine.

The things you make are the emotional attachment, not a machine. But the defendant is terrible for stealing the machine and it's possoble she sold her house due to financial problems and likely sold the machine.

The defendant also did admit she had used it at the plaintiffs house. If she had her own $1000 machine for 10 years that she was gloating about then why did she ever need to use her neighbors? Then she went on later to say she never did use it? What? She lied in there somewhere. I think she was ticked they wouldn’t loan her money and made up the part about overbearing them. This plaintiff has no reason to sue someone who apparent is having hardships and may never get the judgement unless it’s true.
