That was my first thought watching this case. I have 7 kids as well, and no way would I get a rescue dog and let them near my toddler. That really bothered me. You are asking for trouble. Cases like this make me so so thankful my husband and I don't have pets, and don't want any. Been there, done that, never again.

I'm exactly the same with my 3. Also, here in Australia cats kill so many protected species. My cats are outside in a big catio only. They're safe from dogs, cars etc and won't go missing or kill. My area also has a curfew for cats. 😻

Yesss, I love to hear that. I recently got harnesses for 2 of mine who are pretty young. I put them by the door, when kitty smells it, I put it on them and let them smell around outside for a few minutes. Otherwise, I care waaaay too much about them to let them out just to wander. I want my little dudes to live as long and healthy lives as possible!!

My cats live outside. Of course, I live out in the country and they tend to stay on my 2 acres of land. I also know that they could possibly disappear, coyotes, stray dogs, thieves, other wild animals.

Yeah, I don’t know who told them those dogs are Australian shepherds, but they didn’t know what they were talking about. How did these people not immediately Google “Australian shepherd” and realize “oh, that looks nothing like these dogs.” All I can figure is that they got Australian shepherd mixed up with Australian Cattle Dog (also called Blue Heelers), because they _do_ look like they could be Australian Cattle Dog mixes. If they are ACDs, that’s one of the worst breeds a family in a condo could have gotten. ACDs need lots of space to run and lots of exercise. They are farm and ranch dogs. If you’re not able to give them miles and miles of running exercise every day, they will escape and get that exercise themselves.

they probably did meet the family as most do this nowadays. they're rescues they're going to be skittish no matter who is around or isn't around. dogs will dig AND will run off if given the chance especially if they see a rabbit or another animal, that's what they do which is why a fence is important. it used to be you walked in gave money & adopted & for the most part everything went well, today they treat it like adopting a child which is a bit of a stretch and a money maker for the shelter.

@@Anglynn74 I've adopted rescued dogs in the past. And, they acted like puppies once I got them home. The 1 male pitbull mkx I had was more obsessed with the couch than anything lol. I know all dogs are different. But, if they couldn't handle the dogs, they shouldn't have adopted them.

there'd be no need to imagine it if you're responsible and leave your cat INSIDE while you're out of town on vacation. This bozo referred to the cat as "his son" but left it alone, outside, while he went on vacation? He's a douche bag and a piss poor example of a pet owner. If he can afford a vacation, then he can well afford a pet sitter to come by the house and check on it, clean a litter box and give it food and water. I have less than zero compassion for this grinning freak show.

Australian shepherds come in all different colours and markings. I think they do look like a shepherd mix. I don't see the rottie though. They need a lot of exercise and stimulation, a standard backyard would be cruel.

I have a black Australian and can tell you that those dogs are not just Australian. Hair is too short for one thing.

So true Adrian, I get mad with people who allow their cats to wander wherever they like. The biggest killers of wildlife in Australia are domestic and feral cats. Our cat who sadly died a year ago was a housecat who loved to be inside, the only times he went outside was when we were out there with him and he would come back in with us.
