Hi Chris, lots of people are making videos about this tool - Getting it straight out of the box and trying to engrave with it (usually unsuccessfully). Which is making the tool look bad. The problem is, no one ever mentions how to sharpen, polish, and set the bevel on the gravers prior to use. It's clear that most people in these videos don't even know you have to do that. So perhaps this is something you need to address and demonstrate, as the gravers can't effectively be used straight out of the box. Dave.

I think if put in the hands of a pro engraver, with annealed metal, it will work just as well as the expensive one. Love it. Will get one!

Awesome!! Been learning how to use it it just now :)) Can't way to try it out. How long do you reckon will the engraver stay sharp? I know it's a hard question becasue it depends on the amount of engraving, but let's say with moderate use? I don't have a way to cut it down or to sharpen, so I wanted to find out how long I have before I need to figure it out 😀

I have one, and love it! Have you guys ever considered making a "palm swell" accessory for the hammer handpiece, similar to the one on the foredom power graver? I hold mine similar to a standard pneumatic handpiece, and my hand tended to cramp up after awhile. I slipped a Jerry rigged rubber bumper sleeve on it to fill the palm better, and it made all the difference in the world, but I'd certainly buy something purpose built for that application.

Trying to learn to use. Can’t find comfortable way to hold. All turns out scratchy and wide. Love the tool. Does it get better with practice. Have grs vise

Try holding like a pencil- yes. It does get better with practice I try to practice a few times a week

So, can it still be used properly with the SR motor, or will I burn up the internals? Will it still give as good of an engraving, or do I need the LX motor to use with the LPFG attachment? I have one in my cart about to pull the trigger.

I have used it with the SR motor I currently use it with a TX and an LX you have to make sure you keep low RPMs or get a dial speed control they have them at Pepetools.com?aff=14

Hello, I am looking to buy your lion forge punch attachment for engraving at Pepe tools, would it work with the SR motor? Do I need an speed regulator if If so? Thank you!

The hammer handpeice is designed for slower speeds I recommend getting a speed regulator if you have trouble maintaining a consistent slow speed using the foot controller. Ideally the LX motor was designed for the hammer because of its lower max speed. But the SR and TX work just fine when using a speed controller or practicing discipline for maintaining slow speeds with the pedal

The SR is a little faster than the TX, but the TX has more power and torque…nice video..👍

Chris, does it matter what gauge of metal you're engraving on as to the speed and pressure you are applying?

No, obviously you don’t want a deep engraving on super thin material. Once you have the graver prepared with a nice heal the graver should do the work for you. If you are experiencing the graver just gouging into the metal and not making a line you most likely have a heel geometry issue.

I purchased your tool and so far I love it! Couple questions...Did I see somewhere that you will be coming out with a cool easy sharpener system for the engravers? Are we supposed to cut the engraver tool down to a comfortable size to fit our hand better, if so please provide information? THANKS!!!

Hey Cathy! Right now we are in the process of working that out.. as far as the gravers yes you can cut it down to a more comfortable size as production started that was one of the fixes we made with new production - a little shorter gravers - keep in touch and please keep the feedback coming

Just got my LPF engraving adapter yesterday and I'm stoked! One thing that immediately occurred to me is that I need get my graver sharpening on point! Pun intended. Anyway, any progress on making a sharpening tool? In the meantime do you have any recommendations? Thank you!

Thanks! I designed the adapter to fit most of the aftermarket gravers like the GRS QC type - the opening is 1/8 dia or 2mm so it can take broken burs ground into custom gravers sharpening is by far the most important aspect of good engraving

The wedge shape is great for western engraving you use the edges of the wedge as a cutting point not necessarily flat like a chisel

Just received mine today and I’m not sure what I’m doing wrong. I can’t get the engraver to move metal. Am I supposed to be pushing hard? I’m holding it as you show in the video but the tip of the engraver doesn’t move forward.

You shouldn’t have to push hard at all. It does require a little bit of a nudge to get started. Also play with your angle I start at a high angle and then lower it as it starts to move.

The first pass should be light to establish your pattern then you take progressive passes to get final depth as desired

Do you know the rmp needed? I have the TX and I belive that it runs at minimum of 500 rpm. Is it too fast for engraving?

I have the TX as well using a dial or foot pedal you can flow it down for use with the graver adapter

How does it work on steel? al the videos off this tool are in softer material would really like to see it on other steels.

Tungsten carbide stays sharper for longer depending on hardness of the steel you're working on. But the Tungsten Carbide is also more expensive and more brittle compared to high speed steel.

hey man that was fun to watch and i want to try it. I'm looking for a boredom but can't afford the ones you have think its going to have to be a$600. range and I need other tools too. Im old and Its taken me yrs to get this far and IM also getting a pepe rolling mill. so Im excited.. wanted one for a long time. was your graver ball or whatever you call it. was it a mini one. I liked it alot, please let me know. I know the big one is expensive and probably won't need the big one. Im mo . you have a nasty sore on your finger man. it looks infected. can you tell I was a nurse. really watch it. so you don't get a red streak down your arm. take care and thanks a million cheers Mo

This is an alternative to air system but even including home made ones, this looks quite poor in output, speed and quality of cuts. It might be ok for an absolute starter but --loss of time alone-- would prove uneconomical for engravers whise time is an important factor. The graver is also expected to produce smoother cuts and needs proper sharpening.

A piece of advice. Do NOT wipe chips off the plate with your finger or you Will run across a chip that it is still stuck and you will slice your finger. Just because you haven't done it yet doesn't mean you won't.

Why did they even come up with a powered engraver. There are mechanical engraving machines where the operator follows a stencil while the diamond tip engraves the metal. My first job as a teenager was engraving tags and Cross pens.

Great question. The difference is depth of cut and not every stencil works for everything. Most jewelry engravings can’t be done with stencils
