That is indeed something I don't understand. I have been perchfishing for 9 days in a row and didn't catch anything. I guess I need a new set of capabilities. Incredible how much I suck at fishing. BTW the narrow stone he's standing on in the beginning of the video, I'd already be swimming instead of fishing.

I was fishing this summer on the Outer Banks of North Carolina and the gentleman at the bait & tackle shop said the same thing to me! I was attempting to purchase some 2 / 0 hooks but he insisted upon my buying some Size 8 hooks and said "Elephants eat peanuts!"

you only really need wire leader if you expect bigger pikeperch or pike to attack your bait. which is unlikely with these small lures

That'll work just fine just play the fish with your drag and you're good. I caught my pb pike 41" on 15 pound test braid

You've never caught pike on ultralight, have ya? If you have the drag set according to the breaking strain of your leader, a somewhat decent pike will take all the line off of your spool, you need to tighten down and play the fish.

@@paxmowa I have been fishing for over 40 yrs and caught loads of pike thanks . I don't have to adjust my drag every time I catch a fish. And yes I fish ultra light . Have for a number of years. Using upto 6lb braid to a 3 or 4 lb fluorocarbon leader. With ultra light micro jig heads as small as a size 12 0.4g. Even 0.6g cheb rigs on a 14 hook with 1" lures. I have never had any problems with pike stripping line when I hook them. But that's me. Come down and we will go fishing together and you will see for yourself m8. But if I do hook into something big then yes I might tighten my drag but not for every fish. That's what I was getting at. Just some anglers always adjusting the drag on every fish they catch. So please don't say I don't do ultralight fishing when clearly you know nothing about me.
