Percy Bysshe Shelley (4 August 1792 - 8 July 1822) was one of the major English Romantic poets and is regarded by critics as among the finest lyric poets in the English language. 'Adonais' is a pastoral elegy written for John Keats in 1821, and widely regarded as one of Shelley's best and most well-known works. The poem, which is in 495 lines in 55 Spenserian stanzas, was composed in the spring of 1821 immediately after 11 April, when Shelley heard of Keats' death (seven weeks earlier).
Mick Jagger of the Rolling Stones read a small part of the poem on the Brian Jones memorial concert at London's Hyde Park on 5 July 1969. Jones, founder and guitarist of the Stones, had drowned 3 July 1969 in his swimming pool.

Stanza 29
Peace, peace! he is not dead, he doth not sleep
He hath awakened from the dream of life
'Tis we, who lost in stormy visions, keep
With phantoms an unprofitable strife,
And in mad trance, strike with our spirit's knife
Invulnerable nothings. - We decay
Like corpses in a charnel; fear and grief
Convulse us and consume us day by day,
And cold hopes swarm like worms within our living clay.
Stanza 52 (partly)
The One remains, the many change and pass;
Heaven's light forever shines, Earth's shadows fly;
Life, like a dome of many-coloured glass,
Stains the white radiance of Eternity,
Until Death tramples it to fragments. - Die,
If thou wouldst be with that which thou dost seek!
Follow where all is fled! (not read: -"Rome's azure sky,
Flowers, ruins, statues, music, words are weak
The glory they transfuse with fitting truth to speak.")

'Adonais' is an elegy written By P.B.Shelley to the poor John Keats when he died in 1821. Is very beautiful the fact that Jagger dedicated this elegy to Brian Jones.. ❤

George Harrison had this to say about Brian: "When I met him I liked him quite a lot. He was a good fellow, you know. I got to know him very well, I think, and I felt very close to him; you know how it is with some people, you feel for them, feel near to them. He was born on February 28, 1943 and I was born on February 25, 1943, and he was with Mick and Keith and I was with John and Paul in the groups, so there was a sort of understanding between the two of us. The positions were similar, and I often seemed to meet him in his times of trouble. There was nothing the matter with him that a little extra love wouldn't have cured. I don't think he had enough love or understanding. He was very nice and sincere and sensitive, and we must remember him like that because that's what he was."

Yes they did, he was found in the pool around 11:20pm, and was pronounced dead BEFORE midnight July 2nd, it said so on his death certificate, and mentioned in the report of the inquest! I have no idea where the heck they get the date of death as July 3rd, unless they went by that, because that's when the cops got there, around 12:10 AM July 3rd

A fitting poem; too bad Mick said "awakened from the dreams of life", rather than the correct "dream of life". Big difference.

wait, didn't he always speak with an Estuary accent anyway, he's never really changed it? Being from the USA I can't tell the difference but trust me, most people from here can't even tell the difference between ANY British accents
