@@OldIronFury1945 Considering he plays a god it is not even that necessary for the new actor to look like him. In the books it's clearly explained that gods can change shape so there probably wouldn't be too many limits in recasting the role. That being said, the news is really sad and I do wish we would be able to get him for the rest of the seasons as well.

I believe he also shows up as part of the Pantheon towards the end, no (same with Hermes I believe)? I'm curious if the other main gods will get bigger casting names for these smaller cameos, knowing that they'll be more prevalent in a later book/season. Hestia they might get away with covering her head with a cowl, but unless they use the "take a different form" reasoning it might be worthwhile for the show to invest in these actors for roles like Apollo and Artemis, even if they only have cameos in the first season.

That's a good point! I also thought that just because the Percy Jackson book series follows Percy's POV, doesn't mean the movie can't cut to a scene where Percy isn't present for. Like a conversation between the gods, possibly arguing over Percy's existence or the threat he poses or how he totally stole Zeus' lightning bolt etc etc. For me, when I read the boat scene where they activated the trap and the statues activate and start recording them, I always imagined how the gods would tune in to watch it.

i believe that rick has said they have added some “fluff” to the show meaning there are going to be some scenes that aren’t in the books because tv shows need that type of stuff. so i’m assuming there is going to be some extra stuff with hephaestus and others.

It was said that some characters may get cameos a bit earlier than they appear in the books as well, so even if he doesn't actually in the first book some scenes were likely added in which he does.

Agreed. This is exactly what I have been saying since the casting announcement. Dumb blonde stereotype haven’t really been relevant in years. Rick did this series so that kids could be uplifted and identify themselves in characters that have attributed that other look down on and realize that these aren’t bad things. ADHD? Super battle reflexes! Dyslexia? Brain hardwired for Greek! Dumb hot Blonde? All of the goddess of wisdom’s children are blondes and super smart! Nowadays (and back then), the stereotype of being dumb or uneducated is more witnessed in how people treat black girls.

Well Annabeth's casting and Hades casting really rubs me the wrong as I dont feel the vibes from both of them no hate to them or anything but personally for me they dont fit at all Hades should have been someone like Henry cavil who really gives of that godly god vibe and annabeth should have been book acurate

It was actually only like that in the film and Ares was missing there too. In the book, Percy goes in alone and only encounters Poseidon and Zeus there. He meets the other gods at other times. At the end of the first book he only knew: The big three, Dionysus and Ares.

There are definitely girls who have broad shoulders and are tall naturally though (there were some in my Year/Grade in secondary school, they were taller and bigger than everyone else) who they could have chosen. Girls like that aren't represented in media alot and it's a shame.

lmao I'm Australian and I realllllllly wanna audition for Bianca Di Angelo. She's only in that one season (and one scene in the next book) and Shes a fun role and an interesting character. Only issue is A, I'm blonde, B, I'll be like 16/17 (I'm small and short Tho so that should be fine) and C, As mentioned I'm Australian and the series is being filmed in America. If anyone has any ideas on how to go about auditioning for her let me know plssssssss. Some reason's I want to play her. 1. @@heliotikis because it's not intrinsically important for their stories. Percy mentioning how "Annabeth is blonde" for example is not relevant, you could remove it, change it or anything, they'll still be themselves. Their tone of color or hair does not change the story. If their ethnicity plays a big big part on how they view the world, how they lived in the past (or still live), suffered because of it, or something like that, now that's when it could hurt the characters if changed.

In the Magnus Chase books you learn that the Chase family is descended from the Vikings and this is very important to the storyline of Magnus Chase because he has such an ancient connection to the Norse gods and is also one of the reasons why Annabetha is father had something to do with Athena. Annabeth's parentage doesn't matter right now, but if they ever film Magnus Chase, too, there will be problems. Of course you could then say that at some point an ancestor had something to do with a black one, but then you would have to explain it sometime.

Glady! Your right that everyone was complaining about the inaccuracy of the movies, which did include hair color and eye colour, including me. However the main reason why people truly hated those movies were because the story itself was done poorly, the hair and eye colour was just a symbol for us fans to point at and prove inaccuracy, which is a lot simpler to explain than explaining why the entire story was ruined. Now its a great question, why am I, including many fans okay with this skin/hair colour change now when before we dident? Well like I stated, what we truly cared about was the story being ruined, and the visuals of the characters were just easy to point at and prove that point. Now however with this disney+ show, there are a multitude of reasons to be excited and not worry about the appearance, such as the author being apart of the series, the actors and creators behind the show being fans of the books, and other smaller details like the guy who made the Percy Jackson Musical (which was very accurate) is also working on this show. So I and many others are okay with this change because we truly only care about the plot and overall story being accurate, and the appearance of these characters have little to no impact on that story. Now that's not to say that I don't think appearance "cannot" have an impact on a character, like with Frank and Piper needing to be Chinese and Cherokee to represent there culture and need to have there scenes that relate directly to those cultures. However with Percy and Annabeth there exists none of that required storytelling. So yea, I hope I didn't bore you to death lmao, I apologizes for the long comment, its just an interesting conversation and I don't mind to explain it! Thank you for the comment! 😁
