2022 Honda Civic Si review by The Straight Pipes. The Civic Si is putting down 200 horsepower and 192 lb-ft of torque from a 1.5L Turbo 4 Cylinder. At $33,150 CAD, would you take it over the VW Gti, Acura Integra or Toyota GR 86?

The revs staying at the perfect RPM in the next gear is part of auto rev matching. The auto rev match is not just on downshifts, it's on upshifts as well. My M3 had this and pretty much any auto rev match system has this implemented by this point. Makes lazy shifting in traffic a breeze but also significantly diminishes skill required for operating a manual transmission.

@TassieLorenzo
@TassieLorenzo 2 жыл бұрын
@@invalidusername_5101 Fast and fun are not the same thing! With good steering, a good chassis, a good transmission, a well-sorted engine etc, a 200hp car can be plenty fun. It's a question of quality over quantity. My ~200hp 2010 Civic Type R is WAY more fun than my remapped 2013 285hp Renault Megane (turbo). The snappy throttle response of the Civic (lightweight 5kg flywheel from the factory) never gets old! :) Whereas the doughy throttle response of the Megane (silly 12kg dual mass flywheel + being turbocharged) and the way the engine sounds like a blender gets old fast. :( With not much power and a LSD, you can get on the throttle very early without the wheel hop or wheelspin that turbocharged FWD sport compacts tend to have (the old Civic even has traction in first gear!). The 8th-gen Type Rs (both the lowly hatch I have as well as the proper Japanese market sedan) did have a little bit of different stuff (different cylinder head casting, that lighter flywheel I mentioned, different diff ratio etc) but overall they are pretty similar to the 8th-gen Civic Si. :)

I'm glad Honda made this car so uniquely Honda. The sounds and rowdy 90s noises. That outside sound of slapping limiter makes me think it's 2002 again and I hear ek civics doing burnouts. Also I'll stand by Honda as long as they make such good manuals. Best in class. This car is peak fun daily driver. I want nothing else. I don't mind the audio, civic si when I was a kid was always ridiculously loud and childish and I love that. Just slam those gears. Do cheeky burnouts going around corners.

@@javierzapatarodriguez2068 great question. I was very hesitant to get rid of my 2017 mustang GT manual. I loved that car and it was a ton of fun. But I have more fun driving my civic si. It’s more comfortable than the mustang, the manual transmission is way better and the handling doesn’t even compare, feels like it’s on rails. It’s more practical, way better gas mileage and overall a more enjoyable driving experience. The only thing I miss about the mustang is the that beautiful V8 sound. You think I would miss the power of the V8 but the civic has plenty of power and again is more fun to drive. Never thought I’d say a 4 cylinder is more fun to drive than a coyote V8 but it truly is. If you do decide to go for the Civic Si I guarantee you will be happy with your decision and won’t ever miss your mustang.

AFAIK it is rev hang thing, I think it because of the heavy dual mass flywheel. I’ve never liked it on my ST either, but I eventually stopped actively noticing or thinking about it.

Don’t let the cabin noices distract you from the fact that its actually coming from Hector running 3 Honda Civics with spoon engines And on top of that he just came into Harry's and he ordered 3 T66 turbos, with NOS, and a Motec system exhaust.

Aside from performance, I’ll dare to say that the design look a bit pedestrian. The front is fine, by itself but the overall styling is a shade too subdued. But, that doesn’t mean it’s poorly designed - it’s well balanced, proportioned, clean lines. Just my opinion as someone in the ID industry.

Does the rev hang go away when you turn the AC on (not heater)? I had a 2007 Si and it also had rev hang but if the AC compressor was running the rev hang went away completely. The RPMs dropped instantly and much faster. This made driving the car a little weird as the rev hang changed as the compressor kicked on or off.
@lawnmower6591
@lawnmower6591 2 жыл бұрын
Cuz the engine also has to drive the compressor when it's on, so the engine has to work more. That's my theory, though. A friend of mine has no power steering system for more power on his project car, as well as a removed compressor for less engine friction.

You ran the soesker wire too close to the power wire ( I run on opposite sides of the car but that’s too much prob) and the power output does vary with the revs and vibrations of the car , more so with older cars. The magnetic field created by the power wire (this and the e-field is where power is actually caried, not on the wire itself) and that is then inducing the e field of the speaker wire to change and that change is what you hear. Separate the wires a foot or insulate them better. Sometimes it can be how your system and the car is grounded, but that’s a real search and destroy operation.
