Dan has such a unique, varied, and interesting way of doing his covers. He is almost always as good as the originals and many times his versions are BETTER than the originals. He is such an amazing talent!

Great review and reaction. Yes…Dan has the best screams I’ve heard in a long time. You need to check out some of Dans metal songs….I’ll Make a Man Out of You, Burn Butcher Burn, Born to be Wild, Black Wind Fire and Steel, Bring Me To Life…are just a few of Dans covers that showcase his metal side. Love your reactions and descriptions of the singer and the man. He is indescribable but you do a great job of summing up what I am feeling and thinking. I definitely agree with you saying he is F-I-N-E , and yes I shouted that! You are a bundle of energy and probably spend as much energy as Dan does in his vocal. I am sure whoever he chooses to join him in a performance would be equal to his performance. If he signed with a record company, he would have no freedom to choose who he signs with. Stick to your principles Dan! Someone remarked at one of his covers (I say betters), that Dan is the only singer he’s heard scream in tune! There’s screaming and there’s Dan screaming.

This has DEFINITELY always been my favourite version of this song! Seal, I love you man, and you do great work, but THIS is the epic version we all need in our lives! Glad you enjoyed and appreciated it too, DJ. I must admit, I would love to see you react to Dan's cover of 'Bring Me To Life' by Evanescence too - if only to see his epic metal growl unleashed! Oh yeah, and Violet's voice reminds me a little of Ann Wilson, the lead singer of eighties rock band Heart.

Never really cared for the original. It was a nice song, but just never grabbed my ear's attention. Dan & Violet's version, on the other hand, has grabbed it and I can't get enough.

Dan and Violet are two of my favorites, and I can't get enough of this collab. She often works with other amazing independent artists. It's been a chain reaction of discovery for me over the last couple of years. I'd recommend Violet with Halocene on several different covers--they're all great. Also Violet with Leo Moracchioli on Listen to Your Heart. I wonder if Dan would ever collaborate with Home Free (my current obsession). I'd sign up for that. 🙂

Highly recommend Chop Suey covered by Violet Orlandi, Lauren Babic, and the band Halocene. It's a great way to hear more from Violet and be introduced to couple of other powerhouse female vocalists.

You might be interested to know that an analysis of Dan's vocal range throughout his recordings shows that his lowest full note is a D2 and his highest is a B5. This means his range is just a step and a half short of five* full octaves. *Edit: I miscounted. It's actually four, which is still impressive.

Look forward to seeing your reaction to this. It's a good cover. Violet has a great voice and I think it works really well on these "power ballad" type of songs. Have a listen to her version of "Don't Fear The Reaper" with JoYo - a great version and another side of Jon's voice for you to discover. (Jon also has a version of "Kiss From A Rose", on his channel, with Caleb which is well worth a listen.)

I’ve seen comments on Dan’s vocal range. Sorry I don’t remember the numbers but it was astronomical. He was compared to artists at every range including opera singers and Dan’s range was wider than anyone he was compared to. Not only is his range incredible, it is controlled. The more you listen you will hear that Dan is a musical unicorn. ❤❤

Dan also has a cover of “Dream on.” Just thought I’d mention that because you mentioned it here 10:32 and he does a fantastic job with that high scream you were talking about. It’s not a “cream of the crop” song, though. Your commenters have mentioned plenty that you need to get to first before Dream On. It’s just lower on the priority list.
