Hey uncle Jesse. If you use a program like uv tools that can modify individual layers, by making the first few layers have a high wait before print time, more of the resin can be pushed out from under the build plate and that allows you to have a much better adhesion with a much lower burn in time. I use black abs like, and the burn in time is 2.5 seconds, there is no elephant foot and things are sticking so good

When you say there's no way to unlock faster speeds, do you actually mean it's just simply impossible to configure faster feedrates by manually creating a profile in the slicer? Are feedrates hard coded into the printer somehow?
@kamui004
@kamui004 7 күн бұрын
For the S4U and M5U, there's no lift/retract speed/height configurations in the slicer like old printers, that config space in the slicers is completely absent for these printers. The peeling is done by the tilting vat and its speed is hardcoded in the firmware with a "Slow" and a "Fast" speed, while the z-axis just barely moves up whatever layer height it is. In the other printers most print time was taken by the 5-10mm up-down movement of z-axis, while these ones is taken by the vat tilting down and up, but the tilt speed is hardcoded. I imagine they could be changed if Elegoo gave away the gcode files for people to alter, like it used to for people to mod the z-axis motor speed limits on older printers for the so called 'vroom settings". But I think Elegoo already tested and limited the speed of the vat tilt to accommodate all kinds of resin without any of them splashing due to too much speed.
@UncleJessy

@@kamui004 Yeah, I believe its all "hardcoded" into the internal profiles of the printer for the Fast/Slow print speed settings

Jessy, the only issue I personally have with your content is, you are all about pushing speed, speed, speed. Bigger nozzles, larger layers. That might be good and fine for I dont know how many. For me, I stay with 0.03 layers and .04 nozzles. I got into 3D printing for the details and quality. Not just pumping out items. For you, ok, I can understand it is about getting content and videos made. But to forcefeed it speed, speed, speed and bigger nozzles onto everyone... I just dont agree. Again, personal opinion. I do find quality information about machines in your videos, but you lose me when you get kicking about speed and faster everything.

I wouldn't recommend a 3" smaller printer with the same functions over $120. Particularly with just a 1x6um difference in pixel size. You lose out on too much print volume.
@wojteklabuc
@wojteklabuc 7 күн бұрын
Depending on what the owner needs - I don't need bigger volume. I'm upgrading diecast car models. Mostly 1:64 and 1:43 scale. Compact printer with great quality small prints with saving hundred euro is a deal which I'm very interested. You can't measure what other people need without knowing other people "metrics" and needs.
@DOGbackwardz
@DOGbackwardz 7 күн бұрын
@@wojteklabuc You say it right there, mostly. Even knowing exactly what you're printing, you don't know exactly what you will want to print. What happens when you find the model that speaks so greatly to you that you want to scale up to 1:.32 or 1:.16. What happens when you want to introduce your friends to the hobby? Do you want to run 20 prints or do you want to run 4. If you know the limitations of such a small screen you will never recommend it to someone who doesn't. You also easily make that money back over time due to wear.
@wojteklabuc
@wojteklabuc 7 күн бұрын
@DOGbackwardz I don't print whole models. Only parts. And those even for large scale are small. And I don't need to "what if" because I know what I'm into. I don't buy it to impress friends or to introduce them to my hobby. I have very specific reason to buy 3d printer. And it won't change. Saving money and space is more important than potential for things I would not consider. And from real needs at large scale -details I will print rarely are still very limited in size. Biggest elements are wheels but those are small. And limited to 4-5 (if there is spare one visible). Even at 1:18 scale. And wheels are usually different for different car models. So no point in printing in larger numbers. And most important those prints will always be parts. Not a whole car. And it will never be more than 4 runs. With 1 run with different resin for tyres. Available volume won't affect neither QOL or labour/time in those rare situations when I would work on larger scale models. I'm doing my reaserch for weeks and videos like this cured me from thinking about bigger printers. Instead saved money will serve better if I spend it on small vacum former to make windscreens. My real needs > what I might or not need.
@DOGbackwardz
@DOGbackwardz 7 күн бұрын
@@wojteklabuc It's not saved money, it's delayed spending. The more runs the more ppe, the more fep usage, the more screen on time, increased labor time, and increased risk of failure.

Great machines,dc on the back logical, wifi on the back logical, BUT WHY ALWAYS THE USB PORT ON THE BACK OR SIDE JUST PUT IT AT THE FRONT !!!! (Yes is know it's on the board there, but damn! how hard is it to design it to have the power switch and usb in the front!!!

I just bought the Mars 4 like 6 weeks ago. I really wish they would tell you when you buy something that a new version is coming really soon and you shouls maybe wait.

So if you're using the exhaust port you can only move the lid as far as the exhaust hose? That's absolutely ridiculous and short-sighted.

Thats unfortunately how all lift away acrylic hoods work on printers. Some folks have made printable magnetic hose adapters so you can just snap it on it off when needed

No tilt either which is the biggest improvement. I also just noticed the Mars 5 is only 4K. Finally, the Mars 5 is an extra 2 months wait.

For those looking at the cheaper Mars 5 vs the Ultra you need to note the Mars 5 is only 4K. Seems a little deceptive to me as most people will expect them to be the same resolution.

Honestly the FEP is a consumable, you’re doing more damage with an overexposed print.

The printed Elegoo across the drip tray drives me crazy! It shouldn't say elegoo anywhere on it. Not even the edge. I sent a Email and gave them a piece of my mind. They should send new drip trays to everyone who purchased it.

@@Brettoh because it's insanely difficult to clean the resin out of the letters. It should be flat and smooth. Easy to wipe clean.
