No, it’s just a popular myth. They sometimes get caught up in waves and beaten on the shore rocks and nothing happens to them. Drying out on a shore out of waters is dangerous.

No, it’s just a popular myth. Played with the same ones for half a year without any problem, they are cool with it and don’t crawl away or hide (they can, though). Taking them out of the water for a prolonged periods of time or getting washed ashore and drying out in the sun is dangerous.

In salt water like this, I would seal the device's openings with regular scotch tape and place the iPhone in a SmallRig cage with a wrist strap instead of using a waterproof case. I also block touch interface with Guided Access and use volume buttons to start/stop recording. Works with Filmic Pro also.
