In this Broadcast Award-winning, BAFTA and Emmy Award-nominated entertainment show, Taskmaster tyrant Greg Davies (Man Down, Cuckoo), with the help of his loyal assistant Alex Horne (The Horne Section and the show’s creator), sets out to test the wiles, wit and wisdom of five hyper-competitive comedians.
Comedians that have risked life, limb, and dignity in the hope of making the Taskmaster proud so far include: Frank Skinner (The Frank Skinner Show), Mel Giedroyc (The Great British Bake Off), Romesh Ranganathan (Asian Provocateur), Hugh Dennis (Outnumbered), Sally Phillips (Bridget Jones’ Diary), Rose Matafeo (Edinburgh Comedy Award Winner 2018), and Russell Howard (The Russell Howard Hour). Unaware of what awaits them in each wax-sealed envelope, only one competitor can become the victorious owner of His Royal Task-ness’ golden head and be crowned the next Taskmaster Champion.

One of the very few tasks that was wasted on its cast. It especially felt underwhelming considering this series followed 5 with Quite Good Considering and I'm Always Seeing You Do Cool Stuff

Yeah, it was fairly evident that most of them don't watch musicals. Especially Russell and Alice's version, which was basically just an advert for a musical (a bit like a film trailer).

This task should have been on series 16 instead of series 6. One could only imagine what Sam Campbell would have done. And none of us would probably get it right.

I wouldn't call this a "number from a musical" personally. First song was the best but would belong on a kid oriented youtube channel, and the second one was kind of like high schoolers jamming for fun? Both decent songs. Not really musical format though.

You know when they do team tasks, it's always the same 3 vs 2. I would love if they did a series where it was all team tasks but the teams were rotated each time. I think it would be chaos.

That would be a nightmare to film though! They film all of the team tasks on one day (for each team) and the teams are often decided by the contestants' availability. They could randomly assign teams for the live tasks though and I think they have occasionally mixed them up a bit for some of those.

I saw a Reddit post saying this task would have been much better in the new series, because Nick Mohammed and Steve Pemberton would have nailed it, and now I'm sad this didn't happen (last episodes not out yet at the time of writing, but they're not gonna reuse the task)

I agree that the first one should have gotten more points, but for a slightly different reason. The first song tried to be a scene from a musical, the second tried to be a theme song.

Arbitrary (and unfair) scoring is one of the sources of conflict in the show. Part of what makes it work. Which the Americans failed to include in their dismal franchise. Every other country managed.

I don't remember this task. Must have something to do about the fact that I loathe musicals at least as much as Greg. I get annoyed if I even see a commercial for a musical, especially if it's "extended by half a year for one last time!!!" for the 10th time.

@@icturner23 Aside from the fact that the level of negativity in your comment is just incredibly unwarranted, you also, presumably, just watched a video where the majority of people who offered any opinion agreed with OP. I'm all the more surprised in light of the fact that I usually find fans of musicals to be exceptionally upbeat and positive if just a little dimwitted. Most really ditzy, charmingly air-headed people LOVE musicals. The idea of a musicals fan daring to call someone ELSE dumb is jarring!
