Fitting a performance air filter to the Golf Mk6. The intake allows the car to make some great turbo sounds and the performance air filter allows the 1.4 TSI to open up a lot more and spool the turbo a lot quicker. the turbo even gives off dump valve sounds from the diverter valve

Well done mate! I was just wondering, i did not see u have a blow out valve mod but u made a really Nice swoosh sound. Did u mod something Else. Will do a air intake mode on mine! Cheers bro

Yeah bro you don't need a blow off valve for that nice dump valve sound just get a good aftermarket air filter. I'm gonna be doing some more mods soon so if u do need some inspiration or help on anything just let me know. And let's just say my exhaust is gonna be booked in soon😆

Yeah bro. The filter is linked in the description and the pipe I got from a shop called creation Motorsport in Birmingham just mention fizzy and they should be able to sort it out for u and if they don't remember say it was the 93mm - 60mm straight reducer and a 90mm metal connector piece

@@Fizzy.g eventually that tube did come off, had to push the top catch in and really really yank it out. I didn't get the same filter as you - so the car wasn't as loud nor did I get induction noises, but the turbo dump was nice😂

Watching a standard filter replacement video for this engine and then this video im wondering if fitting one of these type of aftermarket cones inside the box without lid will do a good enough job without new piping which seems common for this upgrade.

yo, i just picked up the same whip with pretty much all of the later mods you add aswell so im gassed to find this channel! I do have an issue though i was wondering if you could shed some light on When first started i get some proper torque and the power is there, but when the car gets to 90 degrees, i lose mad power and my brake pedal becomes rock hard when above 2k revs! it;s like its leaking boost and then the brake servo cant keep a vacuum when im boosting any thoughts?

Yeah sounds like it could be a vacuum leak or something it's getting tight when it's hot so it's possible something needs a bit of grease.

What’s the difference in piping ur straight to the turbo like u did and connecting to back to original pipes. Because ngl ur the first person I seen to connect it directly to the turbo itself

Power wise there's not much difference mines gonna be a tiny bit less restrictive but not to the point where it'll make a reasonable difference it's mainly just for cosmetics

Hi mate I need to get to the headlight hi beam and drl bulb but the air box is in the way. Did you just pull really hard on the box itself to get it to come off? I've tried all sorts but I just can't get the damn thing out.

Yeah it literally pulls off. And the front air pipe has 2 screws that screw into the grill they're a bit awkward to get to but if anything disconnect the pipe from the box and just take box out and then the pipe will just kinda hand but it'll be out of the way

The whole kit is made by these guys but I requested a ramair filter so I paid a bit more to get the ramair one with mine. From what I know though I've heard there's is basically the same material just their own brand

To my previous comment. I purchased a cheap I cone filter to test and with the way the air box is designed you can't fit it inside the box, annoying, but I suppose that's not all a bad thing. Other than the breather pipe, it looks like you would just take the air box off and fit the cone to the standard piping and just make a solution for the little pipe.

@@Fizzy.g I went down to creative Motorsport yesterday and bought their £45 kit. The foam filter doesn't sound too different to the mesh cone I had, but it does sound a little more quieter,. But it's not been run for more than a couple hours, so who knows. Anyways with the kit came that silver plug you replaced with the filter, so I've got that capping off the pipe now. The only thing I'm not liking is the pipe which is the same as your blue one gets pretty warm. There is no other pipework included as it comes with a neck style filter. I know you have that metal section, but had you noticed any heat from the setup?

You will get a bit of heat as there's no heat shield or heat plate but remember that pipe is right where the air duct is so when you're driving the cold air is cooling the pipe and the fresh air is going to the intake. But you could always get some metal off eBay or somewhere and make a heatshield for it

Yeah mines a manual aswell. I think if yours is from before 2009 there's a chance to have no soft because none of the Mk5 golfs had a soft limiter from what I know but I'm not 100% sure

@@Fizzy.g my car is a 2012 Scirocco, so the Mk6 golf based one. With the cone filter installed I think the induction sound dies off after 3500, so not worth revving higher anyways ha which would be no different than stock revving in that sense.

You can try an fit it in the box but I think it's a bit too big. If you want a standard look the best option then is to get the black variant of the intake and then make yourself a small heatshield and paint it in black

@@Fizzy.g i know i wouldn't get any gains but i got a vw golf mk6 1.4 petrol but no turbo so 80bhp an i got a straight pipe custom made 3 inch gti exhaust system on too, so 89bhp, if i get a ram air induction kit like that would i see a small gain or would i be loosing power?

Yeah however the air duct is just their so yes it's not perfect but it's not the worst either. Also the stock setup is alot more restrictive than this so the volume of oxygen you pull in would still be higher with the new instead but yes it's not ideal. I'm looking to create a custom heat shield for it eventually.

I was originally running a large pod filter on mine , but my mechanic said they hate hot air , so I went back to original, saying that I’ve got the twin charged 1.4 tsi Tiguan , Off topic what rear muffler is it ? I got mine changed on the weekend, fitter installed a middle hotdog muffler & no muffler at the rear … sounds awfully loud , don’t like it, needs a rear muffler, maybe sports like intended, but he said it will be too quiet… I still think it needs a rear muffler.. suggestions Cheers 🤙

Ahh no if you run the car on a Dyno and want every little horsepower then hot air isn't the best however compared to the stock filter the open one is still better just position it a place to receive the most air possible. I first had a backbox delete and the stock Res and stock cat. Next I got a sports cat and still had stock Res and backbox delete. Check out my videos and the exhausts and see what you prefer
