To celebrate International Dance Day this Wednesday April 29, the Fondation sets three digital events allowing you to discover or relive some of the dance performances which have taken place in the building of Frank Gehry.
In this film, Lil Buck - the Memphis’ jookin star, also famous for his forays into ballet - takes us on a tiptoed visit of the exhibition “Icons of Modern Art. The Shchukin Collection”, his first improv dance in a museum.
Directed by British filmmaker Andrew Margetson, Buck reacts to the Fondation’s architecture with his signature moves. Dancing to a music score by Euvgeni and Sasha Galperine, he makes his sneakers squeak on the concrete floor, floats on the escalators and finally takes wing in the Matisse’s and Picasso’s rooms.
Two surprises linked to dance will also be uploaded to the Fondation’s KZfaq channel and Facebook page. As a hint, the excerpts are taken from the dance show “The Russian Ballets: An Ongoing Revolution Duets, Performances, Creations”, given on the occasion of the “Icons of Modern Art: The Shchukin Collection” exhibition (22 October 2016 - 20 February 2017).
