Thanks always for your great tutorials! Appreciate this offer. Our son is 12 years old and getting into tennis religiously now. He has got most of the basics right, but still not on the groove with his serve. I am hoping your foundation course will help. If we buy the course, how long will be valid for or accessible?

@@PerformancePlusTennis Oh, didn't think anyone would read this. Let me elaborate more beyond the 2 words "great stuff" in my first comment, as it may be helpful to you. I've always been struggling with my serve despite having played for decades. I'm trying to now serve the right way. It is a difficult feat when you already have one lousy serve you've been using for decades, and you need to unlearn that and then learn a new stroke. I always feel brainwashing is needed to successfully do this. Your 30 minute practice routine of yours is great because it gives me a fighting chance to gradually pick up a new motion/swing path and get my brain moving on the same page. As example, I particularly like your advice to hold a ball in the left hand, despite while practicing doing shadow swings and not hitting yet. It does wonders psychologically, 'cause it creates a more realistic scenario for the brain to grasp. I can already feel each of these phases you're telling us to try, will help me better spot which part of the motion I'm not doing right yet (so I can can specifically address that segment rather than fault the whole swing motion). Thanks for these tips.

John in the serve game you were scoring 1 of 2, 2 of 4, 6 of 8 & so on. Does that include the first serve as well . I'm confused about the points. Pls explain if posbl.
@PerformancePlusTennis
@PerformancePlusTennis Жыл бұрын
Hi Kumar, Yes, you score 2 points every time you get a first serve in. You score point if you miss the first serve and get your second serve in. You loose a point if you double faulty. Best, John

John this could not have found me at a better time, I've been struggling to maintain structure and discipline when I practice my serve. However I'm a little confused about the scoring system. I think I understand but just to make sure you essentially get 2 pts if you get first serve in, 1 pt if you get your 2nd serve in and -1 if you double fault. Let me know if I'm right about that. Also, what do you mean when you say 75/25 speed to spin? Thank you!
@PerformancePlusTennis
@PerformancePlusTennis 4 жыл бұрын
vectorthurm Hi, I am glad this is providing structure to your practice. Yes, you have the scoring system correct. 75/ 25 indicates the ratio of racquet speed used to create ball speed (in this case 75%) and the amount used to create spin (25%). I hope this makes sense. Take care and stay in touch. Kindly, John

John - I see you play with a pretty hefty racquet. I have head light Clash Tour and I am getting into Blade v7. Blade feels better on serve (I actually love it) but it is a bit more fatiguing on a shoulder when I practice lots of serves. Do you have any recommendations regarding the head balance and swing-weight of a racquet? Especially in the context of using Clash Tour vs. Blade v7.
@PerformancePlusTennis
@PerformancePlusTennis 3 жыл бұрын
Hi Edmon, The Blade, with a strung weight of 11.4 oz is certainly not a light racquet. However, your shoulder pain can be from a number of factors, and the weight is probably not the cause. String tension / type, body tension, swing path and technique may all be contributors. I would need to see your serve to make a serious recommendation. I use a Luxilon 16 Light for playability and feel. String tension 50 lbs. I really like the set-up. Stay well and stay tuned! Thanks, John
