Great no nonsense summary. I would add, elbow back and up on the coil. Many people miss this. Lastly, regarding tension: a nice rule of thumb regarding relaxation: if you're totally relaxed on the swing, the racquet will come back and hit you in the back or back of the shoulder on the follow through. This happens, imo, even in mini tennis if the arm is relaxed

Question for you. Is it normal that i struggle more with timing and generate spin when i move from a 325g swing weight racquet to a 354g swing weight racquet? I mean the stability of the heavier head racquet is like a hammer but i struggle to generate the same head speed then the lighter one.

Hi Silviu and thanks for your question. It really depends on your skills and style. A heavier racket can benefit players who have longer, fluid and relaxed swings, but it can hinder players who have short swings and carry tension...so there is no answer that fits all. Best solution: Keep experimenting to find the right combination of racket weight and mobility. Good luck and stay tuned to PPT! Thanks, John

What do you think of the stay down throughput the swing advice?
@PerformancePlusTennis
@PerformancePlusTennis 2 жыл бұрын
Hi Jason, I think it is situational. If the ball (and contact) is low, staying stable will help control. If the ball is high, or you have time, then loading and lifting, if well timed, generates power without loss of control. This is a good topic for a future video...thanks! Best, John

From the thumbnail of this video, does Nadal use a semi western or western grip? Any tips for people who tend to open their racket face at contact? Thanks in advance and great video 👍🎾

Hi Jason, Nadal most certainly uses a semi-western grip on his forehand. I have several tips that address your question, and I will make a video on this topic in the near future. Thank you for your questions and contribution to the video. Best, John

I do not hear/see many coaches address the concept to make contact at the "45" as it relates to hitting a forehand groundstroke. Will this method increase racquet head speed?
@PerformancePlusTennis
@PerformancePlusTennis 11 ай бұрын
Hi Charles, Yes, although I did not mention it in this video, for most forehands the 45 degree angle is a good point of reference for the contact. Best, John
