Period Vintage car racing a VSCC 1963 event by Roscoe Films Production

This is an original 1963 film covering the VSCC 1963 season. It includes locations such as Goodwood, Silverstone, Oulton Park, Prescott and the Welsh trials.
See cars like the Talbots that were at Le mans, and at Le mans Classic 2023, ERA Bentley,, Bugatti, Austin severn, Mercedes Benz, and even a Rolls Royce on the muddy Trial hills of Wales. See Mr Lanchester of Lanchester cars. and see Jenks, (Denis Jenkinson) Stirling Moss's co-driver.
This film was shot on 16mm cloud film with soundtrack added post production. ( there may be silent sections where youtube has a copyright claim, whilst dad had all the permissions to use the music in 1963 I don't have the piece of paper to prove it after 59 years !!) its 1963 so colour film was rare for the hobby / semi professional film maker. the camera was a wind up (clockwork) Bolex camera which was state of the are at the time.

I have a friend with 3 Galaxies, racing a big heavy tub against cars 1/3rd their weight is a total piss. The commentary has me in stitches. Thank you for sharing these!

Masterful, your dad's camera work! Wonderful to see such good quality colour. Not to mention the sharp focus, the inventive camera angles. And touching to get such extensive coverage of the period VSCC crowd. It comes across what fun they are all having. And well done for all the work to provide a digital version. So generous of you. Worth seeing again.

I decided to watch this one with subtitles on and sound off. That's when I noticed how deft the filming was iso much so that in many ways this film has not dated. The colour is also very evocative. Sotft but always in sharp focus. Many good ideas there for filming siescreen TRs, if I evrer get my act together.

Extraordinary to think that many of these cars were just 30 years old. Today it would be the equivalent of watching Sierra Cosworths and Lancia Integrales competing on hill climbs. Doesn't seem possible somehow... Wonderful legacy 👏👏👏
