@@babyjesusbutplug No, that's moronic. Costello sold off 167 tonnes of gold. In 2020 alone, Australia produced over 300 tonnes, almost all of which gets exported. So we have in all likelihood exported well over ten times as much gold as what was sold by Costello in 1997. And no, its wrong to say there were few nations it would have been sold to. It would have been sold on the open market to whoever would buy it. Literally no reason to think it would be all or mostly to the UK.

I love gold man. My great grandpa was a runaway boy from a prestigious nobel family in Portugal. He had this gold necklace around his neck with his enitials on it for his entire life, which now a family heirloom passed down to the oldest son of every generation. First son, first grandson etc. I so happened to be the inheritor of the necklace and it is now the most precious thing I own. Gold is a wondrous material... So beautiful and so valuable. One of my goals in life is to have my family crest inbeded in a signat ring, to make a new heirloom for my future family to remember me by.

I'm from South Africa, and when we visited the gold mines there, there was a lecture all about gold and they had a single gold bullion on the table. The guy said that if you can lift the bar with just your fingers, you can have it. Everyone tried including me, and it just was not possible. Those bars you see are intensely heavy

there are a lot of viral videos about tungsten cubes on the internet. density wise, gold is basically softer, malleable, and yellow tungsten. if one ever watches one of those videos, dropping a golden cube would basically have the same effect (but it would probably damage the gold a bit)

+IoEstasCedonta I don't think an earthquake will do much to a vault that strong. As long as you stay away from the falling shelves and blocks of gold, you will be quite safe!! And considering the value of the gold in there, you will be rescued pretty soon when the authorities come by to have a check to make sure the gold is safe.
