Dr, as you say CAL is the most important factor in the prognosis, is there any specifics range to determine what prognosis it is? and is it needed a case that include only one of the category like bone level, local factor, patient cooperation, etc to determine the prognosis? or it needed to all of the category happens to determine the prognosis? also do you mind if you can share the source or citation for your information because it really helps, thank you so much.

question please why when the Bone downturn or shrink the gum olso shrink why doesn't stay in it place ? why the gum follow the Bone recession ?

I did not get the concept of younger pt. having worst prognosis than older people ?

The concept is a little strange to be sure! But the idea is that younger people have more years to live, and hence “more time” to accumulate risk factors for periodontal disease.

But i think the horizontal bone loss has good prognosis than vertical!?

That's what I thought to. Not sure why Dr. Ryan says vertical bone loss has better prognosis.

Horizontal bone loss has less surface area than vertical defect so reduced surface means reduce Ed blood supply means less nutrients and less healing

The management of vertical bone loss is easier, higher probability of performing regenerative procedures. (BONE GRAFTING CANNOT BE DONE IN CASES OF HORIZONTAL BONE LOSS). Thus vertical bone loss has better prognosis than horizontal bone loss.

Whats a bifurcation ridge?

It's the ridge connected by two or more roots, essentially where the roots split off from one another in a multi-rooted tooth.
