It's actually pretty interesting that some parents are willing to accept they don't know what some things are and ask about it too, like the father and son exploring the tampons and the pads. He's a lucky kid if his dad explains everything else like that.

It actually shows why it is important to talk because the parents weren't clearly taught about it or openly talked about this. That one woman who didn't know about period cups is perfect example of self taught sex ed which most of the previous generations have done. They only know what they've learned by themselves and practiced.

Annabelle Tatzer I basically meant that all these people implying that people who use birth control pills a lot only use them to because the have a lot of sex, are very misinformed, when actually a lot of people use these pills for treating heavy and painful periods, the symptoms of pms (premenstrual syndrome) and endometriosis.

I think it is just taboo because people have made it out to be this big secret for so long that people are so used to it being something that you are supposed to hide, so that is exactly what they do. It is pretty much just old habits passed through generations. Plus, many of these parent's parents most likely didn't talk to them about these things openly or at all so they have been stuck with a mentality that it is an awkward subject. At least these issues are becoming less taboo for each generation. Is the Diva Cup good? I've never tried it or known someone who uses it

I totally agree with what you're saying, but we should stop stigmatizing it. We should all learn that talking about these subjects is natural, it's all about education I think. I've tried it only once, I hated it. It's probably because I didn't find a good technique to put it inside. Next month, I'll try it again. Some friends tell me it's awesome, and very practical. It's also very good for the environment!

From an experienced user, the diva cup is fantastic. After getting used to it, I felt sorry for my younger self using anything else. Saves soo much money and only needs to be changed every 12 hours. Highly recommend. (Though now as someone with an IUD who doesn't have periods anymore, I can say getting one of those was really the best thing ever.)

it depends on the state. I learned a lot about sex ed in middle school.......... wait nvm. I thought all women had to do to have kids is pray for it really hard and women who had sex were nasty. No one ever told me this. I have no idea where this came from. I believed this until the age of 13. Oh God the education was tragic

Inspieos I am American and it's true. Sex Ed is so hit or miss, and it's mostly miss. I'm lucky enough that we had comprehensive instead of abstinence only but there was still a lot that wasn't covered.

Iwas 9 when I first started my period and the first few times my mum thought I pooed myself and then when she relised it was my period blood(in the middle of the night)she looked around the house and realised she never taught me about it and never prepared herself and me for it cause I was so young so she went to Asda in the middle of the night and got me pads so then in the middle of the night told me to put them on I asked why then she told me I started my period lmao I started crying and my first question was "after I lay a egg can I pop it?" lmao I am 12 now and still think its not fair I started it so young girls my age are just starting it
