I had a Perkins 6-345 NA in a little steel boat. Totally amazing. Ran like a Swiss watch. Used no fuel. Great little engine.

Great video. Cool to see the engine run in the open. I just bought an old 41 foot Defevre trawler with two of these engines. Only 1600 hours on them. They run great.

I have been running a reverse rotation 6-354 in my 29 Dyer since 1986. It came out of a twin installation and dates back to about 1970.

these are some of the longest lasting diesels arround. i wish i could have made it fit into my boat.

There was a clean 40' Bertram here in S.florida and nobody would touch it.It was twin so one had to be reverse rotation .This was 20 plus years ago and I can remember how rough the engines idled.Owner had boat listed 20k below book value and I remember it setting there for sale for at least 4 years.Owner claimed the engines ran great.

We had alot of fords on farm,great fuel economy,reliability and low rpm torque.The pekins in marine applications are far and few.Like I said owner of the marine perkins loved it.

hello can any one help me out i just installed a perkins 6453T in my boat and just started it up and theres no oil coming back up to the top its smoking black out the oil cap and it shots off after a min of runing im lost and i need help maybe i need a new oil pump but cant find where its at ? plz help

wasn't the 6-345 the direct competitor of the 6v53?

6v53 makes significantly more power and torque . 354 was one of the first high speed diesels that was very economical. low power figures though but very reliable

@@themisunderstoodgorilla7030 p6 was the first "compact" high speed 6cyl diesel Perkins made, was a 1930's engine, really ahead of it's time, the 6345 was the 50's successor.
