In this video I work on several projects to improve many different things in our garden, like the new extended chicken run, the new path into the garden and some edge work at the polytunnel. I also show some of our vegetable seedlings and our citrus plants inside our passive solar greenhouse.

Ich mag Euren Garten sehr. Oft sehen Permakultur-Gärten etwas unordentlich aus. Ich mag Permakultur, aber ich mag es auch (zumindest teilweise) aufgeräumt und beruhigend fürs Auge. Euer Garten ist jetzt mein Vorbild! 😊 Ich stehe aber noch ganz am Anfang der Permakultur-Umstellung. Als nächstes baue ich auch so einen Hühner-Kompost, und unterteile den Auslauf der Hühner etwas, damit zumindest ein Teil immer nachwachsen kann. Liebe Grüße aus Deutschland!

Danke für dein liebes Kommentar, da habe ich mich sehr gefreut. Organisation sorgt für Effizienz und deshalb sind die wichtigen Bereiche im Garten gut geordnet, zu viel Chaos ist auch keine Permakultur! Alles Gute für dein Projekt :)

Looking Good!!! the thing about gardens is they are never finished. there's always something that can be improved on. as for the scale, I had the same problem but as my trees are still small I decided just to scrape them off by hand as well.

The before and after at the 5:00 mark literally made me say "Wow" out loud. That is sooooooo much better. As far as your insect problem I've got 2 natural solutions for you to try: water, NEEM oil and CASTILE soap. You'll want about a tablespoon of each per one gallon of water. Put it in a spray bottle and spray it on the leaves. It's totally safe and can be used around your chickens without worry. The other solution is using a 70% alcohol and dabbing it on the high infestation areas (better for hard branches not leaves) using a cotton swab or rag, waiting for it to "dry them out" then using a toothbrush to brush them off the branches. Hope this helps!

Usually a dilute mixture of soup and water eliminates those sort of problems of the citrus leaves.

@@manuelangerer-permaculture something that has lye, usually i put dishwashing soup and some clothes washing soup. Citrus leaves can handle that, it doesnt burn it. But other plants with not leathery leaves cant handle it. With those u can try water with smashed chillies ,garlic and vinegar. To be safe u can spray a little of what ever solution on the leave and wait few hours or till the next day so u can know if it would harm the plant or not.

Have you tried just leaving the door open to the greenhouse when it gets warm outside and leaving the scale insects alone? After a while something that eats them should find its way in there and have a feast. Trees might get a little torn up in the meantime but will probably live.

100% vinegar does the job, use 10% to 90% water.. Oil 2 tablespoons, 1/2 cup water and 3 cloves of crushed garlic and sunlight liquid (washing up liquid) Also 10 L water Epsom salts 2 large desert spoons 2 teaspoons washing liquid

Dormant or horticulture oil for scale. It's safe for fruit trees. I sold it years ago.

To get rid of that insects, start a community of ladybugs in the greenhouse

Have you tried beneficial insects, like ladybugs or parasitic wasps, for the citrus greenhouse? Also you can spray neem oil or other horticulture oils on the citrus tree leaves.

Love your content! Have you tried ladybugs/ladydbird beetles to potentially combate the scale bugs? I ordered some to protect my plants from aphids and they worked wonderfully. I'd be interested in knowing the results. Best of luck!

There are a few ways, I will simply cut it 3-4 times in may until it has no energy left to regrow! I might do a video on cover crop termination!

I absolutely love your channel, well done………One piece of advice. Not on permaculture …. But just on colloquial English …….At the end of your videos you say the phrase” “ I’d very appreciate it”……> in England we say “I’d very much appreciate it “.or We say “ I’d appreciate it very much “…. I.e. we add the word ‘ much’. We never say the phrase with out the word ‘much’ If we also are using the word ‘very ‘ to emphasise the level of appreciation ……… hope that helps
