Labeling cans will prevent frustration when you want to quickly grab a certain type of ammo, but can't remember which ammo can it is in.In this video I discuss different 4 options when it comes to labeling ammunition cans for indoor storage. Some are terrible and some are better.

Avoid permanently labeling your ammo can with paint. This technique is semi-permanent and comes off when you are ready.

why avoid using perminant marker? I labeled my cans with marker buyt my plan is to always use those cans for that ammo.

I use a Brother P-Touch label printer. The labels are very legible, stick very well, & can be peeled off without leaving any sticky goo residue behind. Beside caliber, I include bullet type, bullet weight, & brand. 9mm 124 gr HP Federal

Huh, 🤔. I’ve just been using cheap painters tape and a sharpie. Painters tape doesn’t have a strong adhesive either, but I just always use the same can for the same type of ammo. I really like the liquid chalk idea though. It is really nice and bright.

I just have a piece of painters tape on the latch, and the top of the lid towards the latch

I use an alphanumeric stencil, a yellow Sharpie paint pen, and rubbing alcohol--any time I need to change what the ammo can is holding I wipe off the lettering easily with the alcohol. Easily visible what the can holds and the lettering stays there until you want to remove it, which it will without issue.

If you are looking for a more permanent method, try stencils and spray paint. This was it does not risk the chance of rubbing off. Other than that, you could just paint the cans different colors representing each type. Thanks for the video.

Great suggestion!!! My one can from the service is stenciled with 5.56 NATO on it so I only have 6 more to go!

Or for 20 bucks, you can get a label maker and print out your labels and stick right on the front and a little curve part here you go

I use dry erase magnetic labels for the steel cans. Afterall the cans are steel. You can buy the sheets in different sizes. Or buy ine large sheet and cut them yourself.

I forgot about those. That is probably the best way to label cans.

For 25 years, I have used some paper tape and a sharpie to label what ammo is inside. Today I use the light blue 1 1/2" painters tape and a sharpie to label all four sides and the top. Did you add the lock brackets or did the ammunition boxes come wit it pre-installed?

I purchased them with the lock. I'm sure anyone could cut through, but it keeps the kids out of there.

I use paper. I write what’s on it then tape it on with wide tape

Question regarding your ammo cans, did you add the eye to lock them or did you buy the cans like that?

I purchased them like that so I could lock it.

How wouldn’t you have thought to do that? That’s the most basic and easiest way. I take some paint pens and write on the can. Water proof, won’t come off, perfect.

Lol....some blue painters tape and a marker works perfectly...lol...if you you shuffle ammo around you can quickly re-label....amateurs are all over youtube....
