Just like there is a huge difference between Brazilians, Argentinians, Haitians, Mexicans, Peruvians, Quebecois and pretty much all Latino nations of the Americas. There are even differences within regions of the same country. While we all may share the same roots, we are not monolithic, and it's ok.

Haiti is Latin America .. being Latino doesn’t mean you speak Spanish. They refer to countries in the Americas that speak one of the five Latin languages .. French is one of them and they speak French and creole (essentially broken French) in Haiti. Also many Haitians do claim being Latino.. it’s YALL who don’t claim them as Latino. She should just accept the fact she’s wrong,

I respectfully disagree with your statement. As a Haitian woman born and raised in Haiti, I can assure you that we have never claimed or identified ourselves as Latino. We have always self-identified as Black people of African descent.

Haitian in haiti dont even say their black ,they say their haitian , it literally the same as claiming Caribbean. Moun nwa was always referred to black americans , you can’t expect term to be applied the same in america to haiti , haitians in the states claim and acknowledge their latin identity to than in haiti but they obviously know it .

Haiti was under France. France is considered Latin, right? As the French language is derived from Latin. Therefore Haiti is part of Latin America.

Latin is a dead language and it is not a race, culture or country. It is a label to a group of people that have only one common denominator to be that they speak some sort of a dialect of the Castilian language.

Ella estaba en lo correcto. Al mundo le mienten. Los Haitianos que realmente no son Haitianos sino africanos, no fueron considerados independientes ni un país hasta muchos años después de la independencia dominicana. Incluso se les hizo pagar un precio que muchos creen que fue por su independencia pero en realidad fue por la masacre que ellos hicieron contra los blancos y mulatos franceses que vivían en la colonia francesa. Tampoco dicen que fuimos los dominicanos que pagamos la mayor parte de ese dinero con 22 años de esclavitud. Dónde ellos nos invaden en 1822 al enterarse que España nos otorga nuestra independencia junto a otros países como México, estos al saber que se nos devolvería todo lo que nos fue quitado osea nuestra isla, a traición nos hacen creer que van en son de paz pero la realidad que hicieron lo mismo que hacían los colonizadores reducir la población matando la para poderla controlar. Ellos toman una palabra de nuestros nativos que no les pertenece porque quieren evitar a toda costa que se les identifique como lo que verdaderamente son en esta isla, africanos invasores.

Me sorprende que se utilice la expresión latinos para denominar a personas de países hispanos de América, ya que latino viene de las culturas mediterráneas, supongo que será otra de las tantas tretas de la angloesfera para desvirtuar todo los que es hispano. Lo triste es que las mismas personas desvirtúan su propia cultura olvidándose de su origen y raíces como hispanos.

Ay por favor. Somos latinos (porque hablamos una lengua derivada del Latín), hispanos (porque hablamos Español), e Iberoamericanos (porque formamos parte de los reinos de España y Portugal). No lo pienses demasiado, nadie está desvirtuado nuestra cultura.
