I sang this song at Midnight Mass. when I was 13 years old in the choir and it brought tears to my eyes then, today at age 80 I just cried again, he does it so beautifully beautifully with his smooth voice. No one has ever done it like Perry Como.

En Costa Rica programaban esta misma pieza a las 12 mediodía en Radio Reloj y mi padre la sintonizaba. Qué recuerdos. My father used to listen and quite sing this song on the radio every day at noon time. Great memories.

Perry Como, es el nombre de este cantante, y esta canción Ave María de Franz Schubert ha sido cantada y grabada por Grandes artistas como Luciano Pavarotti, Andrea Bocelli, Sarah Brightman, hablando del género lírico y otros artistas pop como Celine Dion y más.... Pero lo que más me llama la atención es que este Cantante Perry Como no posee una gran voz, si comparamos con los Artistas antes mensionados, pero en lo "Personal" es quien me mueve hasta las fibras más íntimas de mi ser. Algo tiene esta versión y su voz que lo logra, o quizás será que forma parte de mi pasado, de mi niñez, de recordar a mis abuelos y terruños, y por la difusión diaria que le daba Radio Reloj, para mi la mejor Versión del Ave Maria 🙏

This is the *1968 Version* - this version has strings, and backing female vocals. The *1949 Version* is more solo vocal, with organ and concert violins.

I must say I prefer Perry Como before all the other american pop singers, Bing Crosby, Frank Sinatra, Dean Martin, Nat king Cole, Elvis Presley. He had better rhythm, voice and pitch.

I agree. Even more important, Perry was a decent, respectable, professional man. Unlike Sinatra, Martin, Presley and many others, he lived a clean life. No scandals, no living in the fast lane, etc. Naturally, the tabloid people would have thought of him as not colorful or exciting but Perry would have none of it.
