I played with a George Izett Model 129 persimmon, and loved it. I still use a 905R for my actual driver because it is so classic looking with modern size, but great control.

Interesting. So the tech seems to be focussed more on consistent distance to make roll, less in the the total distance equation. Wonder if you’d play better on links with the persimmon v new tech...possible future 3 hole test with 2 balls one new tech and one persimmon.

Every year I play a 'Vintage round' with my friends. I'm a 6.7 and shot an 81 at a course I've never seen using Hogan / Macgregor Persimmon woods and 1988 Hogan blades. You can hit the woods offline but it's not as far offline and to me seemed a bit more controllable.
