NOTE: None of the animation footage was manipulated in post. That is how it was captured in camera (save for a little color correct).
The animator Anthony Schepperd (who doesn't appear in the video) is a total boss: vimeo.com/anthonyschepperd

Had to shoot this at 1/8000 to 1/12000 shutter speed in bright daylight to get the effect. Size of plaques and distance between them depends on the speed at which the camera is moving.

I personally loved the fast pace, it gave me a sense of the overwhelming emotion, I could feel the stress and anxiety of working on something and thinking you will fail, then all of a sudden after all the hard work your done in what felt like an instant with an overpowering sense of pride and rush of adrenalin, and I think that really made an impact on the "feeling" of the movie and the message that I took away from it.

Max, here's my say: A lot of the people in the comments are saying it's fast but different. I understand that they're copying Marlyn but it's simply a shit response to this incredible video/movie/dream. This video is short but it contains a lot of determination and skill. The actual creation with the images was very cool, very illusional and very intriguing! This project took 6 months to make so I'm thankful for not giving up and ignoring your dream that you brought upon when you were younger. This video is simply breath-taking! Thank you
@vna4t

It was good, artistic and inspirational, but it felt more like the "Making of ..." than an actual movie. In addition after a video full of art and locations, we are left with a blank wall ... I get it... after all the anxiety and stress, when it's done you feel that sense of completion. It just letting me wanting more. Great job and collabs. God bless.
@DanielRodriguez-gm1ih
@DanielRodriguez-gm1ih 6 жыл бұрын
Veronica DJWUN I feel the same way, this is a video of making a movie but there is no actual movie. I think they might have been trying to show the process of going something done rather than focusing on the end product. (Because Casey mentioned that it was about the process of getting an idea to the final product.) they didn't fully commit to this idea and I don't think it was the best example. This "product" is so simple...like there is some math behind it but there was no reason to go to LA and New York. I think this would have been better if he made two videos, one the actual movie and then this video as a behind the scenes.

@vna4t 6 жыл бұрын
I agree, he should've made 2 videos. He invested so much, effort, time, money etc. and at the end it feels like an incomplete movie or just another well done vlog. I don't want to be harsh ... it is just how I see it. Besides all that... I really liked it and liked the message. I am an artist and I appreciate when different type of artists collaborate with each other. Thanks for the reply.

First of all I fucking loved this. This is EXACTLY what a creator feels when you are going from concept to reality. And when you finally let into the feelings of "what if" "failure" and other such things is when your art comes out as pure as it can possibly be. Bravo sir. Well done. Yup, same here. I liked the original idea. It would have been more difficult, but there would have been a final existing piece of art that people could experience. I saw no reason for multiple locations. You can't tell one from the other when looking at the animation, so what was the point? A film about not giving up, which starts with abandoning the original idea. Meh.

Cool... I would really like to see the whole animation, with no cuts. The way (I suppose) that was initially meant to be shown, on one long road. I like that many different roads were used, but I would honestly like to see the whole animation connected. Nevertheless pretty cool!

+1 Very nice, both the video and the animation. A road would be cool. Maybe a metro or a train line? Finally, if you find a good solution maybe you can set up a system where artists submit animations like that and a team makes them a reality in cities around the world. I assume the logistics weren't easy. Cheers.

TheHayduken1, I do agree on this, it is just that it was distracting (and not in a good way for me) to show part of the "story", themselves then again the "story"... Of course all this IMHO. Take care.
