I'll take that bet, Ken!
Run performed on New Game Plus. It can be done on the first cycle but not if I want to leave the guardians undefeated (I'd be very underleveled for the Full Moon bosses anyway, and abusing Peaceful's full revival won't make them less tedious; unless I grind the enemies on the bottom few floors over and over, which would be the worst).
(Every Tartarus boss except the final boss can be skipped on PC using a lag exploit to bypass the dialogue triggers, including the forced return trips and Monad door [and possibly the Monad Passage bosses]. I'm playing on Xbox, so that wasn't an option, and I wouldn't use it anyway.)

If you wanted to get from 1F to 255F, not counting the time it takes to use the stairs, you'd only have 14 seconds per floor to get to the top of Tartarus.

So after looking on Reddit, doing some math, and adding to a comment I saw that did their own math, my conclusion is that Tartarus is about 900 meters tall, or about 2952.76 feet. That is easily taller than the tallest building in the world. Hell, that's taller than two Empire State Buildings stacked on top of each other. The temperature would drop 8.82 degrees Celsius (15.876 Fahrenheit) from where Makoto started, so I'm glad he's bringing a coat. At that height, you could witness songbirds migrating. Since each guardian floor has two staircases and there's 25 of them, you're not looking at 264 sets of stairs, you're looking at 289. If an average flight of stairs is 14.5 steps, that is *4191* steps to climb, on top of walking across each floor. Hope you got a StairMaster Aki!

@@Caution954As much as I love all of these games, I absolutely agree. In terms of “What’s the most impressive thing they’ve done”, Yu is literally just a guy who got a god and killed another god with it, and Ren shot a false god in the face, and destroyed another one too, and I would argue is stronger and faster than Yu. Makoto sealed Death, actual Death itself, within him, after braving a monument larger than any TV dungeon or palace. Dude’s a BEAST.

@@TheRedInkling about who's stronger I would Argue Makoto is stronger because he has legitimate Sword Training (if you picked Kendo as training not in Reload but OG) And actually swings a sword correctly and also he knew how to use everyone's weapon too in OG. So I'd say weaponmanship goes to him strengths and speed. Depends honestly...

Interesting that she does. In the original, if you fought Elizabeth before recruiting her, she'd still show up as the Navigator, unlike in Persona 5, where Navigator Morgana has a pre-battle voiceline if you face the Twins before recruiting Futaba.

They actually did something similar with Futaba in Persona 5 with the dirty armor. Normally you never see it since Morgana talks about it in Kamoshida's Palace, but if you ignore all chests with armor until you unlock Futaba, you'll get the special dialogue

I think that change was made in either P5 or Royal. It was definitely a proper extension in Royal, and I'm pretty sure it was just a refresh to 3 turns in P4G.

I think an interesting idea for a run is you run through tartarus in one day but you have to start off with orpheus. If you want to use the compendium you have to reregister personas and only pull those. Basically pretend the compendium is empty again. Another idea for a run is you start with base equipment and you can only use the stuff you get from tartarus.

There's a limit to that. By convention, the duration cap is 9 turns. So realistically you want to simply just use Heat Riser twice, do a charge skill, then attack. That or if you think it's not worth it to charge, use the attack twice.

Yeah p3 has no deadlines it's what separates it from 4 and 5 But you'll just die from the moon bosses I assume so you can't really do it

This was awesome to watch. Love little challenges like this. You should defo try this on NG either solo or full team, spam working for money and see what can be done maybe allow thebel upto 1st guardian if needed. Exp scaling is funky in the game and ironically being a lower level gives you insane exp yields that outweigh being higher meaning going into a full moon boss under can usually end you higher than you would be if starting slightly higher. Since you get Apsaras and Orpheus guaranteed at minimum you can still endlessly chain fusions upto your level between full moons. Recently finished my Solo/Orpheus Only/Mandatory Fights Only/Merciless run but this honestly seems like it could be more interesting

i’m a month and a half away to the end, but i’m gonna wait on the night of March 24 cuz there will be a full moon (irl). TECHNICALLY it will be on the 25th but at 3 am EST. anyway, i am doing this on the night of a full moon on merciless difficulty (this was actually my NG+). i did this last month (on the 24th). i did this to get the definitive experience. if you beat the game on the night of a full moon IRL, then welcome to the club.

@@firstnamelastname7244 The protagonist will always level up, and while Junpei and Yukari can be theoretically kept at level 1 by letting them get KOed during every fight , I don't think it's possible to do so for the tutorials. All other teammates join at well above level 1.

I've been playing p3fes for the first time, since reloaded released (I'm poor) So I've talked with my friends and I'll do smth similar, when I reach the final floor of Tartarus, I'll go back to the start and grab a lvl1 Orpheus and I'll try climbing up I'll only go back during the checkpoint floors to refill my sp, otherwise I would just spend a lot of time grinding SP items for fuel

Am I crazy or was there unique Fukka dialogue if you do this and she navs tje first gusrdian encounter? Also i forgot, p3didnt force time limits for exploring? So thats why persona 4 and 5 get so pissy with deadlines.

Eh, it is a double-edged sword. P3 has forced boss fights on certain days so unless you are very good, not training can get you destroyed by these bosses with no way to beat them without losing days of progress. P4 and P5 meanwhile attach the EXP grinding location and objective together so you are more likely to be getting EXP before the boss. Well, P5 also has Mementos but there are still fights in the Palaces with basic enemies.

It pains me that I only have access to 2 battle themes from Persona 4 simply because I didn’t buy the game the moment it was available for pre order😔. The Almighty is a fantastic track, but I would’ve loved to have I’ll Face Myself over Revelations: Mitsuo. And no Reach Out To The Truth and especially no The Fog hurts my soul. But at least I can still enjoy the complete tonal whiplash of traversing Tartarus knowing that an old couple and a child died for this run to be possible with the very cheerful theme of Junes playing at full volume.

would you recommend doing this challenge for other people? i've completely held off doing any tartarus rescuing before 6/14 but i did end up eventually trying to explore tartarus only because i didn't want the social links to be permanently cut off. i'm only on my first ng+ but should i still do it regardless?

From a fresh save, not unless you want to try doing the Full Moon bosses while underleveled. For NG+ it's not difficult, just a long 3 hours of nothing but running. If you can find a way to make it more interesting, go for it.

If you fuse succubus and level her up you get spirit drain and some move that boost spirit drain which allows u to steal 40 sp per usage this would’ve great for a no item/ take down every enemy you see run

That's kind of redundant in a NG+ run since you can make Orpheus Telos and fuse it's Victory Cry into a persona like Alice and using Die For Me! whenever you need to refill on HP/SP. Is it a pain in the ass to do it? Yes. But if you are going for 100% completion then you will have the means to do it.

Well, if you stay in Tartarus you're basically left in stasis until the next Dark Hour, so spending 2 hours in Tartarus is 2 days real time
