Futaba means a lot to me… when I played Persona 5, I was in the darkest place I’d ever been. I had become a suicidal NEET, shut in with social anxiety, agoraphobia and depression. I’m autistic too and I headcanon Futaba as autistic (her English VA also said she depicted her that way deliberately). Seeing a character I could relate to, depicted in a compassionate manner, really meant a lot. My own journey to get better looked a lot similar to Futaba’s, and I had my own cherished friend (key item 😋) who helped me through it, with kind acceptance and support 🫶 I don’t know where I’d be without her. Recently I finally started college, it’s still a challenge and I can’t attend every day, but I’ve come a long way from when I was too agoraphobic to even open my blinds, and I’d have a panic attack just being in public for 60 seconds. I hope all my fellow Futaba’s will find their own happiness 🫶

SilverflameYoshi83 I agree that she had a little crush on the MC but she’s like the MCs sister, cause Sojiro is like a dad to the both of them. She probably had a little crush on MC because of her lack of human interaction and her inability to best express her feelings (until later throughout the confidant). I think it’s just sibling love(?)

SasugaSushi Actually near the ending of her confidant she doesn't see it that way. When you pat her on the head she states how it feels different from when her mother done it, she understands why Sojiro would go out of his way to do things for her because he's like a dad to her but she doesn't understand why you would. So if you want to think of it as sibling love, just remember that Futaba isn't the one that thinks of you (the mc) as a sibling, it'll only be the mc thinking that. Think of it similar to those childhood friends in anime that love the mc but the mc states how they only think of them as a little sister. So Futaba doesn't think of the mc as family or as an older brother, it's mostly just the people who play the mc that think that. Canonically they don't have a sibling relationship or think of each other that.

@@SilverflameYoshi83 Yup. It's just people being clingy and projecting that see Futaba as some sort of sibling. The protagonist leaves Leblanc at the end of the game when his probation ends, so these characters are not meant to be "family" from a narrative standpoint.

It depends on how accurate the translation is. And no, english not sounding bad doesn't mean translation is good. She cares about Kana just like any person cares about a dear friend. The english translation is actually not that good in most parts of the game. You can find videos regarding that topic.

I suppose I shouldn't be too surprised, with how much Futaba uses MMO slang such as "trash mobs" and "soloing dungeons", but this one is really specific, and even uttered by someone that isn't Futaba herself. If you don't get it, let me explain. In World of Warcraft, players that are of the opposite faction will speak in a language that your character is unfamiliar with, causing all text they generate to be obfuscated with letter replacements not unlike Al Bhed in Final Fantasy X. To an Alliance player, any Horde character saying "LOL" would have it changed to "KEK", which birthed the slang term of saying that really funny things were "Top Kek". This is really cool!
