It’s funny really they only had two lines of dialogue in the PSP version so I found out who his voice actor was, and I used voice clips from a character he played in Danganronpa

To be fair and as a new fan who's getting into the Persona games, the Protagonist of Persona 2 is fairly popular even if Atlus did forget about hum but fans love him

Tatsuya was a fan favorite back in 2012, i never understood why but when i finally played Persona 2 i understand, he got a lot of depth as a character and is a badass. He struggled way more than the other protagonists because of his relationship with Nyarlathotep

I like how throughout this entire thing Yu is still like the main character and Ren is just the ahole that no one likes and Door is so sensitive and emotional he always sound like he’s gonna cry, the theme actually fits, persona 3 is depression while persona 5 is anger and always the underdog Kotone just there every once in a while Off topic but when I hear Tatsuya’s voice I was like “is this Keith Silverstein?” I actually didn’t know that, it was just Moth guy, Rock guy, Clown guy Hat/Best guy and Ba(l)d guy but not This Guy. So he’s actually more well known as the antagonist Shido rather than protagonist. One thing I found in research is that Yuri Lowenthal’s birthday is March 5th

SMT if... is not Persona 0, it only takes place in the same universe as the Persona series. Persona 1 started Persona, If... was a what if scenario for the first game aka no personas, no velvet room and no Jungian philosophy.

Tamaki is not a persons protagonist, the onky thing SHE is a cameo in Persona 1 and both Persona 2s (Tamaki is like a pokemon mc, you can choose the gender, while the Persona games just settled down with the female version)

SMT V is a good starting point. It’s easier to settle yourself in then SMT III. I would go SMT V, SMT IV then SMT III (you can start SMT III if you want instead of IV) SMT I and II are amazing games too, but you can take your time with them 😊

A lot about them is outdated. They don't have much of an overarching theme, personas work differently, there are no social links, theres very little voice acting, the random encounters cause most new players to get very frustrated, and P2 has actual Hitler as a boss. They definitely feel more like a slightly more lighthearted SMT spinoff than modern Persona games.

Basically P1 and P2 are closer to SMT rather then modern Persona, also a lot of the staff that worked on those games including the director and writer are no longer at Atlus so the current Persona team wont touch those characters out of respect. As to why they were "shelved" well basically Atlus never really thought much about porting games, its not something they did much, they only started doing it at the behest of Sega and were allegedly surprised at how well P4 Golden sold when they rereleased it for all platforms.

I think it mostly come down to when person plays modern Persona games and after hearing how good SMT series expecting something similar only to play something completely different (see "SMTV is persona without heart") and then complains on forums or Reddit disregarding what SMT actually focuses on and excels. It's not to say that SMT fandom doesn't have bad apples too saying or both sides have some elitists claiming "Our series is more popular" or "At least, our series isn't generic anime and waifubait" but this is what is basically come to.

My answer to Tatsuya’s question of “Why do people set us aside”: It is because your games do not have social links and because the gameplay style in your games is very terrible with very normal SMT subplots. That kind of experience would give new players of today a total nightmare.
