I mean, he's basically a year old, and a significant portion of his early life was spent in Yukiko, Kanji, and Rise's Dungeons, and when he finally went to the real world, he ended up spending most of his time with Yosuke. It's no wonder he picked up some inappropriate behaviors that he doesn't understand.

@Maaka Cross well it's not exactly stated but it's my theory. He did kinda tried to date almost everyone in the investigation team except yosuke and kanji Although during the kings game he kissed kanji and didn't think it was odd to him he just sorta kissed him. I mean all of this could just be from a lack of knowledge of what romantic or sexual things even are but its an interesting theory

Atlus is not very good in terms of homophobia within their characters and writing, though previous workers on Persona have tried (and failed once). Persona 2 had a favored love interest be male and there was GOING to be a Yosuke romance route, though it was cancelled last minute- i believe there's even a dub for the scene. Persona 5 never had any gay, sadly.
