Reaper Fishing

We take an overnight trip to the Wilmington Canyon.
We catch two more swords, one being a real nice one.
We catch a white marlin in the middle of the night on a live spot? Followed by two tiger sharks then a mako at first light
We then load the boat with mahi and Captain Chris catches his biggest NJ mahi!!!
Back at the dock we meet our newest Reaper team member. Interesting how a South Jersey accent morphs into a Brooklyn accent mid sentence. He's weird!!
Please like, subscribe, and share!!!

Nice Mahi! We went this sat/sun to the Hudson. Like you no tuna but Mahi, 1-3 for swords and a 200+ Mako put a show jumping 5 times completely out of the water before biting the line. Great overnighter and badly needed after being at the dock for so long. Awesome video.

Thanks for watching as always Ciro. We did a last minute day trip Saturday as well. We had 3 nice longfin, a stud YF, another keeper sword and a few mahi. We are gonna keep going as long as the WATER is there.

@reaperfishingnj8623
@reaperfishingnj8623 4 жыл бұрын
we use the same rigged squid as we do for day time swordfishing. we usually put a bait down 150-200 ft with lights above the leader. Rubberbanded weight on the main line. Suspended under a float. The other lines are usually tuna rods or another sword bait down a bit deeper.

Hey Trance. Thanks so much for tuning back in. We use a combination of Buoyweather and Noaa. Noaa is free. Buoyweather premium is very cheap and worth it. Buoyweather is usually much more accurate. A lot of guys use Fishweather or Windfinder as well.

Hey chris, just curious if you bleed the mahi while offshore or just leave them in box with ice? Thx!
@reaperfishingnj8623
@reaperfishingnj8623 4 жыл бұрын
we don't bleed the mahi. when the action is fast like that it's important to just keep them frenzied. Plus they go so crazy once on the boat it's better to just throw them right in fish box or cooler. such light meat I don't think bleeding is necessary anyway

We took it slow on the way in (around 15-16 knots) to keep vibration down. Kraken Diving services came out to the boat within a day and was able to cut it off. No damage to shaft or prop and we were right back at it within a few days !!!
