I must apologise for getting mixed up between cat 1 and cat 3... where i say cat 3 i do mean cat 1... to clarify cat 1 up to 50,000kg, cat 2 up to 80,000kg and cat 3 up to 150,000kg, this is all with a minimum of 6 axles .... There is one cheeky way to do it where as by you have a large crane ie 200tmx mounted to a heavy haulage 8x4 and use it as a locomotive ie drawbar, and tow an a frame 4 axle 2 forward 2 at the rear and stay under 80,000kg with a load of over 30,000kg which your crane would be able to lift. Because a load of 30,000kg would place you in cat 2 and the crane set up would not put you in cat 3 it is considered legal!
