* Peshay Studio Set (1996) "Lossless/High Quality" Unmixed Version

Also if you want the actual lossless download, you may find it on my SoulSeekQt file list, just add the user "ChazIsNapping" and search for "Peshay Studio Set" and this set will pop up with all the .FLAC files and art to go with it :)
Most people that listen to that golden early 90's era of jungle drum and bass probably have heard of the infamous Peshay Studio Set upload from Ambiance; this is that same track list, but the tracks are all the original studio releases. All original mixing, no tempo change, no effects added, no fake lossless files, and only using the highest quality uploads/rips I could find. The tracks used in this are all FLAC or WAV to FLAC, so even though KZfaq transcodes audio to lower quality, at least it'll sound the best low quality there can be. I've wanted to do this for a while with all neat listings and such, so here it is!

Hey update, I did some digging and apparently SoulSeek's host provider has been under a large DDoS attack for the last few days--it was only able to be online for a few hours recently only to go back offline and as of atm looks like they're still offline...Shame, but when it does come back I'll be online immediately B)

Could you please share what is the Peshay Studio Set "infamous" for? I'm captivated by it ever since KZfaq discovery in 2020, I feel like I understand that's a milestone for humanity, but like I want to know the true history of it coming up and becoming popular.

im not really the right guy but from my understanding, it was brought up in KZfaq popularity from Ambiance's channel. i would say it has garnered its infamy for a multitude of reasons: 1. the great selection of sounds 2. it has a bootleg sound which a lot of old skoolers prefer for its warmth and was recorded in a studio environment (not a live session afaik) 3. studio sets tend to garner visibility because as far as i know they are made to promote the artists/songs in that set; sometimes songs are made JUST for a studio set too 4. peshay is a huge name in the scene, and him making this set with the amazing golden era music that was being produced, i find it hard for these sets to disappoint really when these artists have huge pools of amazing talent to include it's just super awesome that the love for old-timey studio sets hasn't gone down at all. if you haven't already either, i highly recommend the Moul'y studio set; it's a VERY close second favourite to the Peshay set :)

weird how a optimist future isn't being used in media anymore as a theme, people must hate escapism otherwise how did vaporwave become so popular and jungle is still niche? after resonance became so popular everyone was replicating it but after the peshay video got 3 million views NOBODY or at least nowhere near the same amount of people are replicating the sound of jungle? the moment resonance got 1 million views it got like 22 million more views the next day but not peshay, why? maybe its for the best at least jungle wont be as over-saturated and lowest common denominator as vaporwave became in the last few years, maybe im thinking about it too much.

It's been so long honestly I kinda forgot but it has something to do with Sony Vegas' zoom and crop option, I think I basically set the PNG to spin -359 degrees to the left using that feature, so yes technically 1 frame is missing but it looks how it does via doing that method...Sorry I don't fully remember the method and it's also hard to explain LOL

Seriously love you for this, because of me finding PSS 1996 I found The Chameleon on track 1, definitely one of my overall favorites, ‘Links’ is just as good you should listen if you haven’t yet. Again thanks for this higher quality upload 🙏🏽❤️ also curious how you got those vinyls to spin like that when editing? I'm ngl it's kinda hard to explain the exact process over text and it's been so long I don't really even know if this is how I did it, but I used Sony Vegas and basically used the Event Pan/Crop on a static alpha background PNG that I create using an AI to clear out the background stuff. After that I set it to rotate -359 degrees over the course of a second or so; like I said kinda hard to explain it on text LOL but you just gotta play around with the event pan crop menu Cancel Reply

Amazing quality! I listen to this set when I just want to chill, but the quality and timing makes this much listened album sound new again. The boomy drums and bass on Links is amazing... Thanks for this! You're the best! I also noticed that the pitch and tempo for all the tracks are slower and lower than most of the other uploads. I'm assuming they were edited by the DJ, and those were uploaded instead of the original original tracks?

Ay no problem, and yes man my god the full unleashed frequencies on the Links FLAC is actually beautiful on the ears, not too harsh but perfectly crispy with deep booming passion--Super beautiful mix. Also yes, the pitch and tempos are all mixed and bpm matched on the real mixes usually. I should've delineated that this vid was an un-mixed compilation essentially when I uploaded it, but I forgot to and now it's just way too late to even bother changing anything cause the algo already picked it up and whoever was interested enough in seeing it probably saw it by now xP

I downloaded intense only you flac from your soulseekqt page. However it has “crackling” sound. I have listened to it with different headsets and on a speakers and crackling persists everywhere. My hardware isnt lossless tho, can it be the cause? Curious cuz this youtube upload dont have crackling sound.

I have 2 copies of it on my SoulSeekQt, one of them is a live vinyl rip that has harsh low quality sound and the other is a .wav RIP that's one of the few flawless copies of it floating around. imgur.com/KWhSQDL -- Make sure you download this specific .wav and not the actual vinyl release and it should be good

The formats of the files themselves are lossless, however when KZfaq transcodes it back down to low quality, you are correct it is no longer lossless, it's now just a higher quality MP3 that sounds worse than the FLAC would. An MP3 transcoded from another MP3 will sound a LOT worse than an MP3 transcoded from a FLAC so that's why I put the air quotes around the 'Lossless/High Quality' thing :)

So did Ambiance alter the original mix, making this one more faithful to the original? Also I’m assuming these DJ mixes never saw official releases on CD/LP? Would be ecstasy playing this while driving!

I think there's different RPM versions of the mix, and Ambiance got one or mixed it at a higher RPM than this one.

I'm not super knowledgeable on this but I think most of these studio sets are bootleg uploads. Most of the ones I find are in .ogg and sound identical to the one Ambiance uploaded, and they're usually speed up by roughly 5.2% the original BPM from experimenting around in Audacity, so I don't think Ambiance did anything to the original release itself as he probably just uploaded the ogg bootleg that was probably the only thing available. The way I made this was basically just taking lossless rips of all the original song releases and throwing them together in the same order as the Peshay Studio Set release so that the quality is better than the .ogg bootleg, but it loses that tempo and pitch shift from being sped up like the original. Although I don't mind the speed up, I've heard a lot of people don't like the speed ups as it takes away from the spacious amount of time a track usually had in that era to just let people jam to it, so I decided to leave it as is with the little gaps in between tracks to let each song 'soak-in' if that makes sense. Sorry for wall of text/late reply lol

@@HerbalArchive The audio quality on these blow the bootleg away! Very unfortunate Tychonic Cycle was blocked, really messes with the flow of the mix. Sounds like the chant right after that track is gone too. Props to you for the crisp sound though. Sounds like listening to something new! On another note, it's too bad Ambiance isn't uploading. His channel seems to have been favored by the algorithm, exposing this sort of stuff to people.

@@andagi1920 Yeah it's awesome though; I love the fact the algorithm is shooting out content that people love. I love the comments on every video here and the ones on their channel cause everyone in DnB is just fuckin' vibing all the time and it's such a refreshing mentality to be around when everything irl is chaotic as hell type deal... But yeah I legit couldn't find the chant and it's weird cause I uploaded a few track selections like this on another channel and Tychonic wasn't globally blocked back then, starting to realize a lot of tunes are getting global blocked: Lots of Peshay/LTJ Bukem/Tayla stuff I can never upload which is very sad, but oh well. No problem making this either it's all for love of the music my guy, enjoy :) Also also, I did see Ambiance was commenting under the radar on that account a few months ago so I don't think he's dead or anything, just really busy or hasn't found the need to upload anything lately is my guess.

@@HerbalArchive Not sure if you meant you were unable to upload or couldn't find the chant name but I think it's called "My House" by Chuck Roberts: kzfaq.info/get/bejne/iq90o86Zy96Yno0.html The sample really gives the mix character. Bukem had lots of em' too, heard one where he sampled some 80's golf movie and an old crime flick. I mainly listen to DnB on Soundcloud since it seems it's too obscure for Spotify and YT blocks tracks like you mention. I'd love to collect physical but most CD's are pretty rare/pricy.
